may be injured while the machine is in

operation. Thoroughly check the work-

ing area and remove any stones,

sticks, wires, bones and foreign ob-

jects. When using the machine, ensure

that no wildlife, pets or small tree

stumps are hidden in the dense grass.

General Safety Warnings for

Trimmers

u Read all safety warnings, instruc-

tions, illustrations and specifica-

tions provided with this machine.

Failure to follow the safety warnings

and instructions may result in elec-

tric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

u Save all safety warnings and in-

structions for future reference.

u The term machine in the warnings

refers to your mains-operated (cor-

ded) machines or battery-operated

(cordless) machines.

Work area safety

u Keep work area clean and well lit.

Cluttered or dark areas invite acci-

dents.

u Do not operate the machine in ex-

plosive atmospheres, such as in

the presence of flammable liquids,

gases or dust. Machines create

sparks which may ignite the dust or

fumes.

u Keep children and bystanders

away while operating the machine.

Distractions can cause you to lose

control over the machine. Never op-

erate the machine while people, es-

pecially children or pets, are nearby.

Electrical safety

u The plug of the machine must

match the outlet. Never modify

the plug in any way. Do not use any

adapter plugs with earthed

(grounded) power tools. Unmodi-

fied plugs and matching outlets will

reduce the risk of electric shock.

u Avoid body contact with earthed

or grounded surfaces, such as

pipes, radiators, ranges and refri-

gerators. There is an increased risk

of electric shock if your body is

earthed or grounded.

u Do not expose the machine to rain

or wet conditions. Penetration of

water in the machine increases the

risk of an electric shock.

u Never use the cord for carrying,

hanging up or unplugging the ma-

chine. Keep cord away from heat,

oil, sharp edges and moving parts.

Damaged or entangled cords in-

crease the risk of electric shock.

u When operating a machine out-

doors, use an extension cord suit-

able for outdoor use. Use of a cord

suitable for outdoor use reduces the

risk of electric shock.

u When operating the machine in

damp environments is unavoid-

able, use a residual current device

(RCD). The use of a residual current
