2-4. Using other driving systems

When driving

 If the slip indicator comes on and stays on

The following cases may indicate that a malfunction has occurred in the VSC

system or the TRC system. Contact any authorized Toyota dealer or

repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional immediately.

Vehicles with Optitron type meters

The warning message on the multi-information display comes on and a

buzzer sounds. (P. 430)

Vehicles with non-Optitron type meters

The “VSC OFF” indicator light flashes.

CAUTION

 The ABS does not operate effectively when

 Tires with inadequate gripping ability are used (such as excessively worn

tires on a snow covered road).

 The vehicle hydroplanes while driving at high speed on the wet or slick

road.

 Stopping distance when the ABS is operating may exceed that of nor-

mal conditions

The ABS is not designed to shorten the vehicle's stopping distance. Always

maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you in the following situ-

ations.

 When driving on dirt, gravel or snow-covered roads

 When driving with tire chains

 When driving over bumps in the road

 When driving over roads with potholes or uneven roads
