The x10sra f supports up to 512gb of ecc lrdimm up to 2400mhz or 256gb ecc rdimm up to 2400mhz or up to 64gb ecc non ecc unbuffered udimm for core i7 only up to 2400mhz in 8 memory slots populating these dimm modules with a pair of memory modules of the same type and same size will result in interleaved memory which will improve memory performance 40

When installing memory modules the dimm slots should be populated in the following order dimma1 dimmb1 dimmc1 dimmd1 then dimma2 dimmb2 dimmc2 dimmd2 40
Be sure to use memory modules of the same type same speed same frequency on the same motherboard mixing of memory modules of different types and speeds is not allowed 41
Due to memory allocation to system devices the amount of memory that remains available for operational use will be re duced when 4 gb of ram is used the reduction in memory availability is disproportional see the following table for details 41
For microsoft windows users microsoft implemented a design change in the windows xp with service pack 2 sp2 and win dows vista this change is specific to the behavior of physical address extension pae mode which improves driver compat ibility for more information please read the following article at microsoft s knowledge base website at http support microsoft com kb 888137 41

5 motherboard installation 43
All motherboards have standard mounting holes to fit different types of chassis make sure that the locations of all the mounting holes for both motherboard and chassis match although a chassis may have both plas tic and metal mounting fasteners metal ones are highly recommended because they ground the motherboard to the chassis make sure that the metal standoffs click in or are screwed in tightly then use a screwdriver to secure the motherboard onto the motherboard tray 43
Attention 1 to avoid damaging the motherboard and its com ponents please do not use a force greater than 8 lb inch on each mounting screw during motherboard installation 2 some compo nents are very close to the mounting holes please take precautionary measures to avoid damaging these components when installing the motherboard to the chassis 43
