2. Fit the top handle to the handle tubes using the
screws and washers supplied, ensuring that the label on
the top handle is facing forward (Fig.3). Tighten all four
fixing screws and cover the top screws with the plugs
provided.
3. Pass the free end of the liquid discharge cable
through the rubber cable guides on the handle tube.
Stretch the rubber in order to do this. Raise the solution
tank lid and connect cable to the solution tank valve by
pushing and twisting the connector clockwise.
4. Connect supply cord (if not already fitted) to socket
on rear of machine. Hook the supply cord onto the cord
retainer avoiding excessive slack on the machine.
5. Turn the cable hooks to point away from each other
for supply cord storage. Tip -These may be turned
inwards for the quick release of the cord.
2.2 Fitting the brushes
IMPORTANT - The brushes are only loosley positioned
in the machine for transit, therefore the brush shafts
must be fitted before operating the machine. Push the
shafts through the brushes from the side of the machine
(Fig.4).
2.3 Brush selection
Brushes should be selected according to the type of
floor surface to be cleaned, and the degree of dirt to be
removed (see Brush selection guide).
To remove brushes, push the brush shaft out from the
side of the machine using the fingers, and withdraw the
shaft. Select suitable brush and refit shaft.
NOTE - A side fitting brush is available as an accessory
for cleaning right into corners.
3 The working principle
• Cleaning liquid in the solution tank is released and
drips onto the floor (Fig.5).
• The brushes rotating in opposite directions scrub the
floor and throw the dirty water onto the rubberised
drum. The front brush does most of the scrubbing
and drying. The rear brush completes the scrubbing
and collects the remaining wetness off the floor.
• A blade fitted to the dirty water tank wipes the drum
and collects the dirty water.
4 Controls
4.1 On / Off control
This is activated by movement of the handle. With the
handle in the upright position the machine is switched
OFF. To START the machine, set control to Working
mode (see following paragraph) and gently depress the
foot pedal at the rear, enabling the handle to be pulled
back thereby starting the machine and the brushes
rotating. Pulling the handle back further lowers the
machine and brings the brushes into contact with the
floor. To STOP the machine, return the handle to the
upright position.
4.2 Transport / Working mode
The control is located on the right side of the machine
body. In the TOP position (Working mode) the machine
is lowered by movement of the handle, bringing the
brushes into contact with the floor in readiness for
washing. In the BOTTOM position (Transport mode) the
machine is raised lifting the brushes clear of the floor
for easy movement (Fig.6).The motor will not start in the
Transport mode.
4.3 Brush pressure control
The control is located on the left side of the machine
and has 4 positions. MINIMUM pressure at the bottom
and MAXIMUM pressure at the top. This allows you to
compensate for brush wear and to control the scrubbing
effect.
4.4 Liquid discharge control
By lifting the white handle, the cleaning liquid is
released onto the floor in front of the machine. The flow
ceases when the handle is released.
4.5 Motor overload cut-out
The machine is fitted with a manual reset motor
overload cut-out. The cut-out will operate to protect
the motor from overheating by switching the machine
off if there is excessive resistance to brush or drum
rotation.
Should the cut-out operate, switch off and unplug the
machine. Determine the cause of the obstruction and
rectify. Allow the machine to cool for a few minutes
before pressing the reset button. The machine should
then restart and operate normally.
IMPORTANT- Should the machine fail to operate
contact the supplier from whom you purchased the
machine.
5 Floor washing
• Ensure that brushes are correctly fitted.
• Set the Transport / Working mode control to the TOP
(Working) position.
• Pour cleaning solution into the solution tank.
• Plug in the machine.
5.1 Recommended washing sequence
1. Start the machine by depressing the foot pedal and
pulling handle back.
2. Push machine forward slowly whilst lifting the liquid
discharge handle. This handle should not be kept
raised all the time. The duration and frequency of
lifting and releasing has to be varied to suit the type
of floor, extent of dirt etc.. For ceramic and granite
floors, apply very little liquid.
3. Stop the liquid discharge approx. 30 cm before the
end of forward motion. Continue to move forward up
to the wall.
4. Pull the machine backwards in the same track, but
without discharging any liquid (Fig.7). In the case of
large halls take a U-turn and move forward. If quick
drying is desired, move over the same track without
discharging liquid.
5. Once you have reached the starting point, change the
track and repeat steps 2,3 & 4. When the dirty water
tank is full, switch off the machine and lift and pull
out tank. Empty and wash tank and clean the wiper
blade before replacing the tank.
IMPORTANT - Dispose of unused and dirty liquid in
accordance with the manufacturerʼs directions.
6 Cleaning the machine
WARNING - Before undertaking cleaning operations
switch off the machine and unplug from the
electricity supply.
• The machine should be thoroughly cleaned as follows
after each floor washing operation.
• Unplug the machine and wrap the supply cord around
the hooks on the handle.
• Move the Transport / Working mode control to the
BOTTOM (Transport) position to raise the brushes.
• Remove dirty water tank, wash thoroughly, clean wiper
blade and refit.
• To prevent possible clogging of the liquid drip holes
in the solution tank empty any unused solution from
the tank. Disconnect the release cable and remove and
wash tank. Refit tank and reconnect cable.
