: Lithium battery for motorised
vehicles.
3.2 LED version battery charger
Charge voltage
Pressing the button in g. A-1 to set the charge
levels 12V, 24V: the LEDs in g. A-2 will light up
according to the selected charge voltage.
Press the button in g. A-1 for 3 seconds
to enable “AGM
”, RECOVERY ” e
SUPPLY“ (g. A-4) functions:
AGM
The “AGM function is useful for charging
"AGM" type batteries: sealed lead batteries,
with electrolyte on absorbent material, or for
charging standard batteries in low temperature
conditions below 0°C
”.
RECOVERY
Additional function, to recover sulphated
batteries.
SUPPLY
Generator SUPPLY mode with 12V or 24V
voltage. Mode not protected against polarity
reversal, short circuit and wrong choice of
voltage.
Attention, the battery charger could
get damaged if connected
incorrectly.
Warning indications
Yellow led (
) (g. A-5):
Pole inversion, Danger!!! Invert the charge
clamp connections!
Orange led “25%” (g. A-3):
charge in progress.
Orange led “50%” (g. A-3):
charge in progress.
Green led “75%” (g. A-3):
charge in progress.
Green led “100%” (g. A-3):
end of charging.
4. INSTALLATION
BATTERY CHARGER POSITION
- Place the battery charger in a stable position
during use.
- Do not lift the battery charger using the
power cable or charge cable.
CONNECTION TO THE MAINS
- The battery charger must only be connected
to a mains power supply with neutral
conductor connected to earth.
Make sure that the mains voltage is equivalent
to the operating voltage.
- The power line must have a protection
system, such as fuses or circuit breakers,
that can support the maximum apparatus
absorption.
- Use the relative power cable when connecting
to the mains.
- Any power cable extensions must be of
suitable size, never lower than that of the
supplied power cable.
5. OPERATION
BATTERY CHARGING PREPARATIONS
N.B.: Before charging, make sure the capacity
(Ah) of the batteries to be charged is not lower
than that indicated on the rating plate (C min).
Follow the instructions scrupulously in the order
given below.
- Remove the battery covers (if present), so that
the gas produced during charging can exit.
- Make sure the level of electrolyte covers the
battery plates; if they are not covered, add
distilled water until they are submerged by
5-10 mm.
WARNING! BE VERY CAREFUL WHILE
CARRYING OUT THIS OPERATION
BECAUSE THE ELECTROLYTE IS AN
EXTREMELY CORROSIVE ACID.
- Make sure the battery charger is disconnected
from the mains.
- Check the polarity of the battery terminals:
the (+) symbol is positive, the (-) symbol is
negative.
N.B.: If the symbols are not clear, remember
that the positive terminal is not connected to
the vehicle chassis.
- Connect the red charging clamp to the
positive battery terminal (+ symbol).
- Connect the black clamp to the machine
chassis, at a distance from the vehicle battery
and the fuel pipe.
N.B.: if the battery is not installed inside the
vehicle, directly connect to the negative
battery terminal (- symbol).
CHARGING
- Power the battery charger by inserting the
power cable into the mains.
- Select the charge voltage using the key in g.
A-1. The battery charger maintains a constant
charge current/charge voltage during this
phase.
TEST (LCD version)
Power the battery charger by inserting the
power cable into the mains.
- Select the TEST function using the key in
g. A-1.
END OF CHARGING
The LCD version battery charger signals
charging has ended with a positive result
when the symbol
switches on.
- The LED battery charger, switching on the
green LED “100%” (g. A-3) signals the end
of charging.
- Disconnect power to the battery charger by
removing the power cable from the mains
socket.
- Disconnect the black charge clamp from the
vehicle chassis or from the negative battery
terminal (- symbol).
- Disconnect the red charging clamp from the
positive battery terminal (+ symbol).
- Return the battery charger to a dry place.
- Close the battery cells again, using the
relative caps (if present).
MAINTENANCE
- Leave the battery charger connected to the
mains.
- Do not interrupt the charge process.
- Leave the charge clamps connected to the
battery even after the charge process has
been completed.
The battery charger will automatically interrupt
and reboot the charge phase maintaining the
battery voltage within the product default
voltage range.
6. BATTERY CHARGER PROTECTION
Supply mode excluded (protection disabled)
the battery charger is auto-protected in the
event of:
- Overloads (too much current delivered
towards the battery).
- Short circuit (charging clamps set in contact
with one another).
- Polarity reversal of the battery.
- The appliance is protected against overload,
