Working method
– Place the workpiece (5.5) fl ush against
a sliding fence (5.4) and hold it in that
position with one hand.
Note: When sawing inner angles, it may
be necessary to move the redundant slid-
ing fence outwards.
– Press the unlocking lever (5.1) for the
saw unit. This opens the pivot guard (5.2)
halfway.
– Switch on the machine.
– Always saw the workpiece at a steady rate
of advance. The rollers (5.3) of the pivot
guard slide over the workpiece, which
causes the pivot guard to open further.
– Raise the saw unit again after the cut and
switch the machine off.
9 Service and maintenance
Always pull the mains plug out of
the socket before any type of work
on the machine.
All maintenance and repair work
which requires the motor housing
to be opened, must only be carried
out by an authorised service work-
shop.
Damaged safety devices and parts
should be repaired or replaced by
an authorised service centre unless
otherwise specifi ed in the operat-
ing instructions. Damaged switches
must be replaced by an authorised
service centre.
To ensure constant air circulation, always
keep the cooling-air openings in the motor
housing clean and free of blockages.
The machine is equipped with self-discon-
necting special carbon brushes. If they are
worn, power is interrupted automatically
and the machine comes to a standstill.
• Clean the tabletop insert [1.9] regularly
and remove wood chips, dust deposits
and workpiece offcuts from the extraction
channel on the chip defl ector (see Fig.
6).
9.1 Replacing table insert
Never work with a worn table insert (1.9)
but replace it with a new one. To do this,
release the fi ve screws used to fasten the
table insert on the saw table.
A new table insert is supplied without a saw
slot. You will therefore fi rst have to saw a
slot following installation.
9.2 Adjusting the saw unit
The swivelling range of the saw unit can
be readjusted using the screw (6.2). This
may be necessary if the diameter of the
saw blade alters during sharpening or if a
new saw blade is fi tted.
– Set the sliding fence (6.4) to 0°.
– Release the lock nut (6.1).
– Swivel the saw unit downwards until it
reaches the fence.
– Adjust the saw unit by turning the screw
(6.2) as shown in illustration 7 (turn to
the left - saw unit is lowered; turn to the
right - saw unit is raised).
The saw unit must not be set so deep
that it can saw into the saw table.
– Tighten the lock nut again.
10 Accessories
Use only original Festool accessories and
Festool consumable material designed for
this machine because these components
are designed specifi cally for the machine.
Using accessories and consumable material
from other suppliers will most likely affect
the quality of your working results and
limit any warranty claims. Machine wear or
your own personal workload may increase
depending on the application. Protect your-
self and your machine, and preserve your
warranty claims by always using original
Festool accessories and Festool consum-
able material!
The order numbers of the accessories and
tools can be found in the Festool catalogue
or on the Internet under www.festool.com.
11 Disposal
Do not throw the power tool in your house-
hold waste! Dispose of the machine, acces-
sories and packaging at an environmental-
ly-responsible recycling centre! Observe the
valid national regulations.
EU only: European Directive 2002/96/EC
stipulate that used electric power tools must
be collected separately and disposed of at
an environmentally responsible recycling
centre.
