10.3 CHAIN SHARPENING

WARNING

Not following the sharpening instructions significantly increases the risk of

kickback.

The chain pitch is x.043″, x.050″, 3/8″x.050″. Sharpen the chain using protective gloves and a

⌀4 mm (5/32″) round file.

Always sharpen the chain from the inside to the outside of the cutting edge respecting the

values shown in Fig. 20.

After sharpening, the sharp links must all be of the same width and length.

WARNING

The chain must be sharpened whenever wood shavings are found to be very small

like regular sawdust.

Every 3-4 sharpenings, it is necessary to check and eventually file the depth delimiter, using the

flat file and the appropriate template provided as an option, then round off the front corner

(Fig. 21).

WARNING

Correct adjustment of the depth delimiter is as important as correct sharpening of

the chain.

10.4 BAR

Bars fitted with a sprocket on the tip must be lubricated with grease using a lubrication syringe.

The bar must be turned every 8 hours of work to allow uniform wear.

Keep the bar groove and lubrication hole clean with the scraper provided as optional.

Check that the bar guides are parallel and, if necessary, remove the side burrs with the flat file.

Rotate the bar and check that the lubrication holes are free of obstructions.

WARNING

Never mount a new chain on a worn sprocket.
