12 STORAGE

If the machine is to be stored for long periods:

• Drain and clean the fuel and oil tanks in a well-ventilated area.

• Dispose of fuel and oil in accordance with the rules and respecting the environment.

• To drain the carburetor, start the engine and wait for it to stop (leaving the mixture in the

carburetor could damage the membranes).

• Remove, clean and spray the chain and bar with protective oil.

• Thoroughly clean the cooling slots of the starter assembly casing, the air filter (Fig. 22) and

the cylinder fins.

• Store the machine in a dry place, preferably not in direct contact with the ground, away

from heat sources and with the tanks empty.

• The procedures for returning the machine to service following winter storage are the same

as for starting up during everyday use (56).

WARNING

Protect the bar and chain with the bar cover.

13 ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Environmental protection should be a priority of considerable importance when using the

machine, for the benefit of both social cohesion and the environment in which we live.

• Try not to cause any disturbance to the surrounding area.

• Strictly comply with local regulations for the disposal of waste material after cutting.

• Scrupulously comply with local regulations and provisions for the disposal of packaging, oils,

petrol, gasoline, batteries, filters, deteriorated parts or any elements which have a strong

impact on the environment. This waste must not be disposed of as normal waste, it must be

separated and taken to specified waste disposal centers where the material will be recycled.

13.1 DEMOLITION AND DISPOSAL

When the machine reaches the end of its service life, do not dispose of it into the environment;

instead take it to a waste disposal center.

Most materials used in the manufacture of the machine are recyclable; all metals (steel,

aluminum, brass) can be delivered to a normal recycling station. For information, contact your

local waste recycling service. Waste disposal must be carried out with respect for the

environment, avoiding soil, air and water pollution.

In all cases, applicable local legislation must be complied with.

When the machine is scrapped the CE mark label must also be destroyed together with this

manual.
