Route
This chapter shows you how to configure policies for IP routing and static routes on your ZyWALL /
USG.
16.1 Policy Route
Traditionally, routing is based on the destination address only and the ZyWALL / USG takes the
shortest path to forward a packet. IP Policy Routing (IPPR) provides a mechanism to override the
default routing behavior and alter the packet forwarding based on the policy defined by the network
administrator. Policy-based routing is applied to incoming packets on a per interface basis, prior to
the normal routing.
16.2 Policy Route Commands
The following table identifies the values required for many of these commands. Other input values
are discussed with the corresponding commands.

LABEL DESCRIPTION
address_object The name of the IP address (group) object. You may use 1-31 alphanumeric
characters, underscores(
_), or dashes (-), but the first character cannot be a
number. This value is case-sensitive.
address6_object The name of the IPv6 address (group) object. You may use 1-31 alphanumeric
characters, underscores(
_), or dashes (-), but the first character cannot be a
number. This value is case-sensitive.
