Before Use
1.Remove all packaging from the kettle and its power base.
2.Before use for the rst time, the kettle should be lled to the maximum mark and boiled.
3.The boiled water should be discarded and the kettle rinsed out with cold water. This procedure
should be carried out three times, to remove any manufacturing dust, etc.
poWer Base
1.The power base should be positioned as close to a power socket as possible and the mains lead
shortened to suit. Excess mains lead can be stored in the cord storage area underneath the power
base and taken out at the exit location in the power base wall.
2.For the power base to stand level, the mains lead must be pushed fully into the exit location.

FILLING THE KETTLE
1. Open the lid and ll the kettle via the lid aperture, ensuring that the water level is below the MAX
mark. You will nd this marking on the steam reection plate of interior kettle.
2. Do not overll. If the kettle is overlled, there is a risk that boiling water may be ejected.
SWITCHING ON
1. The kettle couldn’t be switched on until it locate on the power base (2) correctly.
2. Plug the power base into the power socket. If necessary, switch the socket on.
3. Fill the kettle with the amount of water required.
4. Gently position the kettle on the power base, taking care not spill any water.
5. Press the bottom (3) of the “ON/OFF switch” from “OFF” location to “ON” location. The “Power
on light” will come on, to indicate that the kettle is now switched on. When the water has boiled,
the kettle will automatically switch off, the switch will return to the “OFF location” and the “Power
on light”will go out.
6. If you need to switch the kettle off before the water boils, please push the “ ON/OFF switch ”
from “ON location” to “OFF location”.
Important: Ensure that the kettle has switched off automatically, or is switched off manually and
is disconnected, before moving it.
7. When lling or carrying the kettle, care should be taken to ensure it is not tilted backwards, as
this may allow water to pass on the control area, through the steam aperture, should this occur, the
kettle must be allowed to dry before use.
8. Pour slowly to avoid the risk of splashing.
OPERATION WITH INSUFFICIENT WATER
1. If the kettle is switched on accidentally when it does contain sufcient water, a boil-dry device
will operate to cut off the current to the element.
2. The boil-dry device will switch the kettle off. You will not have to switch it off manually, then
unplug it from the mains. You must let it cool down fully before relling, as the element will be hot,
and spitting may occur.

SCALE
1. Scale is mainly calcium carbonate (chalk), a harmless, naturally occurring mineral found in most
water supplies. “Hard” water contains more of this mineral than “soft” water.
When water is heated, the minerals in the water solidify. This can make the water appear cloudy,
it may form a thin lm on the surface of the water after boiling, it may look like whitish pieces of
plastic in the water, it may form a lm on the walls or element of the kettle.
2. The «ANTICALC element» tted to your kettle has been designed and developed to resist the
formation of harmful scale deposit on its surface.
3. As soon as you notice a “lm” forming on the water or on the walls or the element, simply rinse
the kettle and wipe it out.
4. To reduce the build-up of scale residues, always empty out any residual water after boiling. If
you stick to these simple rules, it should not be necessary to descale the kettle, even in a hard
water area.
5. Any marking or residue on the element will not affect its performance or efciency. Please use a
proprietary brand of descaler, suitable for use in plastic-bodied products (even metal kettles have
plastic parts).
CLEANING
1. Unplug the power base from the power socket and let the kettle cool down completely before
cleaning.
2. The outside may be cleaned with a damp cloth, and, if necessary, a little washing-liquid. Do not
let the washing-up liquid inside the body, as this will taint the water, and always rinse the kettle
thoroughly before use.
3. Ensure that all connectors and sockets are kept dry.
4. Do not immerse the kettle or power base in water or any liquid.
5. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners.
