CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

1.1 EPSON Stylus Series Introductions

This Programming guide is intended to be used in conjunction with the EPSON Standard

ESC/P Reference Manual – December 1997. This booklet combines the Programming Guides

for the last three series of EPSON Stylus COLOR ink jet printers into one consolidated Guide.

To maintain consistency with the past Programming Guide, the EPSON Stylus ink jet printers are

divided into four series as follows:

I. The First Series of Stylus ink jet printers.

These are the original EPSON Stylus ink jet printers that are included in the EPSON ESC/P

Reference Manual. For that reason, these models are excluded in this Programming Guide:

Stylus 300 (mono),

Stylus 400 (mono),

Stylus 800 (mono),

Stylus 800+ (mono),

Stylus 1000 (mono),

Stylus COLOR.

These printers were introduced during 1993 and 1994.

II. The Second Series of Stylus ink jet printers.

After the above mentioned original series, the EPSON family of color ink jets included:

Stylus Pro,

Stylus Pro XL,

Stylus COLOR II,

Stylus COLOR IIs (Stylus 820 - monochrome version),

Stylus 1500

These printers were introduced in 1995.

III. The Third Series of Stylus ink jet printers.

After the second series of ink jet printers, the 3

Series consisted of the following:

Stylus Pro XL+,

Stylus COLOR 200,

Stylus COLOR 500.

These printers were introduced in 1996.

IV. The Fourth Series of Stylus ink jet printers

This is EPSON’s current four-color ink jet product line. It includes the following printers:

Stylus COLOR 400,

Stylus COLOR 600,

Stylus COLOR 800,

Stylus COLOR 1520,

Stylus COLOR 3000,

Stylus COLOR 850 (Identical to Stylus COLOR 800)

These printers were introduced during 1997 except Stylus COLOR 850 was introduced in1998.
