The grade of efficiency of a pump with an adjusted impeller diameter is generally lower than that of
an impeller with a full diameter. The energy consumption is reduced due to the adjusted impeller, as
the pump is adjusted to a certain operating point. The MEI value is based on an impeller with a full
diameter.
A variable speed control which adjusts the pump operation to the system is recommended in order to
work more efficiently and economically at various operating points.
