Valve Kit versions
Read this manual carefully before operating the unit. Do not
throw it away and store it in a safe place so that it is available
for future reference.
Incorrect installation or assembly of the unit or its
accessories could lead to electric shocks, short circuits,
leaks or damage to the other parts of the unit. Make sure
you only use accessories made by Daikin, which are
specifically designed to be used with the unit and must be
installed by professionals.
Contact your Daikin installer for advice and information if
you have any doubts on installation or operating procedures.
Before the installation
Installation and maintenance must be carried out by specialised
professional technical staff in compliance with current safety
regulations.
When you receive the kit, check its condition and make sure that it has
not been damaged during transport.
Identify the model and the version of the kit of the motorized ON/OFF
valve based on the indications on the cardboard packaging.
1. on/off 3-Way kit
The kit of the motorized 3-way ON/OFF valve connected to the Daikin
controller allows to set the ambient temperature by interrupting the
flow of water directed to the heat exchanger.
The kit is available with various connections for all the FWV, FWL and
FWM units, both for 2-pipe and 4-pipe systems, as shown in the
following table:

The actuator must be coupled to a controller that, depending on the
type of system, can be chosen from one of the following:

The kit contains:
! Body of the 3-way valve with 4 connections with built-in brass
bypass to withstand a maximum operating pressure of 16 bar.
! Electrothermal actuator with the following specifications:
- power supply: 230 V
- activation: ON/OFF button
- total opening time: 4 minutes.
! Hydraulic kit to install the body of the valve on the heat
exchanger, with 2 regulating valves (lockshields) to control the
water flow and close the water circuit when maintenance work is
conducted on the unit.
! Bushing to arrange the cables inside the unit.
! Thermal insulation to prevent condensation on the hydraulic kit
during operation in cooling mode (only the valve of the standard
heat exchanger can work in cooling mode).
The pressure drop of the hydraulic kit/connecting valve unit is
calculated with the formula below:

installation
To install the valve kit, proceed as indicated below.
1 Remove the outer covering frame.
All the electrical connections and components not supplied
must be performed by only a qualified electrician and in
accordance with the requirements of current applicable
national and local regulations.
All the powered circuits must be opened before you access
the terminals.
Warning
! For the FWL + FWM units, remove the condensation container
before installing the valve.
! For units with 4-pipe systems (2 heat exchangers), the additional
heat exchanger must be installed with the hydraulic joint on the
same side of the standard heat exchanger. In this case, first
install the valve of the standard heat exchanger and then the
valve of the heat exchanger with 1 extra row.
2 Install the hydraulic connections as shown in figures1a and 1b:

The valve kit has been pre-assembled to make it easier to
install.
! Where required, the connections have been coated
with sealant material beforehand.
! The connections have not been tightened to make
them easier to adjust.
! After deciding the final position of the valve kit, tighten
all the connections to keep the kit watertight.
