Our products give heat, comfort and well-being easing muscle tension and
stress. They also prove helpful in case of muscle or joint pains caused by an injury.
Benets of heat therapy are well known since ancient times. Local heat appli-
cation stimulates metabolism and cell functions, dilates blood vessels increasing
blood ow, oxygenation and nutrition of the affected area. This contributes to
stimulate processes of regeneration and recovery of affected tissues, as well as
elimination of toxins, products of tissue decay and lactic acid which improves
vitality and helps to prevent other diseases. Heat reduces muscular tension and
stiffness caused by overuse or overstretching and is also very helpful in case of
rheumatic pains. Heat also relieves pain sensation since it reduces pain recep-
tors stimulation and transmitting pain signals to the spinal cord and brain. Heat
denitively makes great improvement in our sensation of well-being.
Most athletes, professional and amateurs, perform some type of regular warm
up before training and racing. A proper warm up can increase the blood ow
to the working muscle which results in decreased muscle stiffness, less risk of
injury and improved performance. In case of muscle injuries heat treatment is
usually recommended after the initial inammation is over.
REaSONabLE HEaT TREaTMENT
In order to bring positive effects, heat treatment does not require high
temperatures or long time applications. It is with this premise in mind that the
new series of heating bandages was created. Operating temperature is set at
approximately 55ºC, as measured in laboratory conditions. To get maximum
benet from heat treatment it is recommended to apply the bandage during
20 to 30 minutes. Consult your physician or physiotherapist.
There is wrong belief that the more heat and the more time the bandage is
applied, the more will be the benet. Heat must be clearly perceptible but
never excessive. It should always be pleasant and should never cause physical
trouble. In addition, in some circumstances heat may have a sedative effect.
An excess of heat can lower blood pressure causing a sensation of dizzy or
lightheaded or even faint.
If you perceive the heat emitted by your bandage is insufcient, try the
following: remove the clothes from the part of the body to which the bandage
is to be applied and then apply the bandage directly on the skin covering its
other side with a towel. This will increase the heat transmission, as well as
avoid heat dissipation. Take care to inspect frequently the skin in order to avoid
skin burns. Disconnect the bandage immediately if you note burning or itch or
if the skin turns red or presents inammations.
