5 KITCHEN SCALE SKS 5300 INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE Turning on for the first time 1 Remove the battery compartment cover on the bottom part of the scale 2 Remove the transparent insulation strip that prevents battery depletion and put the cover back on 3 Place the scale on a flat dry surface 4 Turn the scale on by touching the ON OFF symbol Setting the weight unit Your scale is equipped with a weight unit switch which enables it to display different weight units If you would like to switch between units repeatedly press the UNIT symbol g fl oz oz ml 1 Note r Weight units can be changed only if the scale has been set to zero and is at rest Query function TARE 1 Onto the scale place a container whose contents you wish to weigh and press the TARE symbol to set the display to zero 2 After zeroing out the display place the ingredient to be weighed inside the container The weight of the ingredient is displayed If you wish to weigh more contents in the same container press the TARE symbol again to zero out the display and then you can weigh more contents Place the ingredient to be weighed inside the container Repeat this process as many times as you like Note KW If you set the scale to zero with a container that weighs less than 50 g the display will show 0 g and S3 will not take the container s weight into account If you set the scale to zero with a container that weighs more than 50 g the display will show 0 g and the informational indicator TARE at the upper left of the display Overload indicator If the scale is overloaded max capacity 5 kg the display will show the symbol EEEE Automatic shut off function Your scale is equipped with an automatic shut off function This function will turn the scale off if no activity is detected within 1 minute Turning the scale off manually You can turn off the scale by pressing the ON OFF symbol for 2 seconds Changing the batteries If the display shows the dead battery icon it is time to change the batteries 1 Remove the battery compartment cover on the bottom part of the scale 2 Remove the old batteries 3 Place two 3V type CR2032 lithium batteries into the battery compartment Pay attention to the polarity The positive pole must always be upwards Fl Warning Wxj If you will not use the scale for a long time always store it in a horizontal position This position better Ea protects the sensitive sensors located in the scale footings Do not place or leave any objects on the scale that may place unnecessary stress on the sensors Strong electromagnetic fields may negatively influence the weighing precision Do not use the scale in environments with strong magnetic fields EN 4 Revision 08 2008
