Thesefully-balancedinputsaredesigned
forstereoormono,balancedorunbalanced
signals.Theycanbeusedwithjustaboutany
professionalorsemi-proinstrument,effect
orCDplayer.
Signals entering channel 3 are added to
theleftsideofthemainmixonly.Signals
enteringchannel4areaddedtotheright.
Whenconnectingamonodevice,always
usetheleft(mono)input(ch.3)andplug
nothingintotherightinput(ch.4)—this
waythesignalwillappearonbothsides.
Thistrickiscalled“jacknormalling.”
15. Tape Assign to Main
Pressthisswitchintoaddthetapeinput
tothemainmix.
Pressitoutifyoudonotwantthetape
inputtoplayinthemainmix.Thisallows
DJ-stylecueingofthetapeinput[17]in
yourheadphonesbeforeitisaddedtothe
mainmixforyouraudience.
Thisalsoallowsforoverdubbingwiththe
tapeinputs/outputswithoutexperiencing
feedback,anditmaintainsisolationofyour
audiotracks.Forexample,youcouldbe
feedingthepre-recordedtracksfroma
computerintothetapeinputs.Leave
"assigntomain"outsoyoucanhearthe
pre-recordedtracksintheheadphones,
asyouplayalongtothem.Onlyyourlive
performancewillberecordedfromthetape
outputs,notthepre-recordedtracks.Press
"assigntomain"inifyouwanttoplaythe
completedsongsinyourmainloudspeakers.

phonesoutput,andcanberoutedtothe
mainoutput,dependingonthepositionof
the“assigntomain”button.
Usethesejacksforconvenientplaybackof
yourmixes.You’llbeabletoreviewamixand
thentryanotherpasswithoutrepatching
ordisturbingthemixerlevels.Youcanalso
usethesejackswithaniPoddock,computer
line-levelaudiooutput,orDVDplayerto
feedmusictoaPAsystembetweensets.
Usethe"assigntomain"switch[15]to
addthetapeinputtothemainmix,anduse
thetapelevelknob[16]toadjustitslevel.

TheseunbalancedRCAconnectionstap
themainmixoutputtomakesimultaneous
recordingandPAworkmoreconvenient.
Connectthesetoyourrecorder’sinputs.
Theoutputhereisanunbalancedcopyof
themainmix,anditisaffectedbythemain
mixlevel[22].
19. Phones
Thisstereojackwilldriveanystandard
headphonetoveryloudlevels.Earbudsor
computerheadphonesmayalsobeusedwith
anappropriateadapter.
Ifyou’rewiringyourowncablefor
theheadphonesoutput,followstandard
conventions:
Tip=Leftchannel
Ring=Rightchannel
Sleeve=Commonground
Intheheadphones,youwillhearthemain
mixaswellasanysourceplayinginthe
tapeinputs[17].Adjustthephoneslevel
[21]knobforcomfortableandsafelistening
levelsinyourheadphones.Seethewarning
onthenextpagebeforeusingheadphones.
Adjustingthemainmixlevel[22]will
notaffecttheheadphoneoutput.Adjusting
thetapelevel[16]willaffectthelevelofthe
tapeinputsignalheardintheheadphones.
