4. Bring the chain tensioner pawl (D, Fig. 5) to the limit switch, fully unscrewing the chain
tensioner screw (L).
5. Insert the bar (F, Fig. 5) on the stud (N).
6. Fit the chain (H, Fig. 6) inside the sprocket (E) and the bar guide (M). Pay attention to the
direction of rotation of the chain (Fig. 8).
7. Rest the chain guard, inserting it into the appropriate housing and, keeping it pressed
against the bar, screw the chain tensioner screw (L, Fig. 7), so that the pawl (D, Fig. 5) enters
the hole (G) of the bar.
8. Fit the chain guard and respective nuts without tightening them.
9. Tension the chain using the chain tensioner screw (L, Fig. 7).
10. Fully tighten the chain guard fixing nut while keeping the tip of the bar raised (Fig. 9). The
tightening torque is 1.5 kgm (15 Nm). The chain must be adjusted so that it is taut and can
slide easily by hand (Fig. 10).
11. The chain is correctly tensioned when it can be raised a few millimeters by pulling it
upwards (Fig. 10).
WARNING
Always maintain the correct chain tension. An excessively slack chain increases the
risk of kickback and the chain may ride out of the bar channel; these events can
cause injury to the operator and damage to the chain. An excessively slack chain
will result in rapid wear of chain, bar and pinion. On the contrary, an overtensioned
chain will tend to overload the engine with resulting damage. A correctly tensioned
chain provides the best cutting characteristics, optimal safety, and long working life
of the chain. The working life of the chain depends on correct tensioning and
correct lubrication.
5.2 BUCKING TOOTH
A bucking tooth is available as an option.
Using the bucking tooth is highly recommended when cutting thick logs or branches.
To assemble the bucking tooth, see sequence A-F Fig. 28.
6 SAFETY DEVICES ON THE UNIT
WARNING
The chainsaw is equipped with safety devices that reduce the risks deriving from
the use of the saw itself; the operator must know their position, use and
maintenance interventions.
WARNING
Read the following warnings before using the unit.
Do not use the chainsaw with defective safety devices.
Check the safety devices regularly. See chapter 9.1 SAFETY CHECKS.
