WARNING
Before you start the engine, make sure the chain is not in contact with a foreign
body.
Do not lean over and do not cut above shoulder height; with a high grip of the chainsaw, it
is difficult to control and counter tangential forces (kickback).
Keep all parts of your body away from the chain and the muffler.
Left-handers should follow these instructions too. Keep a proper cutting stance.
WARNING
Exposure to vibration may damage those who suffer from blood circulation
problems or nerve problems. Seek medical attention if you experience physical
symptoms such as numbness, lack of sensation, decreased normal strength, or
changes in skin color. These symptoms usually appear in the fingers, hands or
wrists.
7.3.1 Flooded engine
1. Turn the knob (A, Fig. 22), remove the casing (B).
2. Pry off the spark plug boot (I, Fig. 24).
3. Unscrew and dry off the spark plug.
4. Open the throttle wide.
5. Pull the starter rope several times to clear the combustion chamber.
6. Refit the spark plug and connect the spark plug boot, pressing it down firmly.
7. Set the starter lever to the “OPEN” position even if engine is cold.
8. Now start the engine.
WARNING
Never start the chainsaw without the bar, chain and clutch casing (chain brake)
installed the clutch can loosen and cause personal injury.
7.4 STARTING THE ENGINE
The chain brake must be engaged when starting the chainsaw. Engage the chain brake by
pushing the chain brake / handguard lever forward (towards the bar) to the brake
engaged position (Fig. 12). Prime the carburetor by pressing the bulb (14, Fig. 2). Move the
starter lever (D, Fig. 13) to the “CLOSE” position. Rest the chainsaw on the ground in a stable
position. Check that the chain is free to turn and does not hit foreign bodies. Before you start
the engine, make sure the chainsaw is not in contact with a foreign body. Never try to start the
chainsaw when the bar is in a cutting slot. Hold the front handle with your right hand (Fig. 14).
Pull the starter cord a few times until you hear the engine fire for the first time. Bring the
starter lever (D, Fig. 13) back to the starting “OPEN” position. Start by pulling the starter cord.
Once the engine has started, deactivate the chain brake (Fig. 3) and wait a few seconds.
Then operate the throttle trigger (2, Fig. 2) to unlock the semi-automatic acceleration device.
