9.7 PROHIBITED USES

WARNING

Always follow the safety instructions. This chainsaw is designed and built for

limbing and maintenance of upright trees or shrubs. Cutting other types of material

is prohibited. The vibrations and the kickback are different and the safety

requirements would not be met. Do not use the chainsaw as a lever to lift, move or

break objects, nor lock it on fixed supports. Hitching tools or applications to the

PTO of the chainsaw that are not specified by the manufacturer is prohibited.

9.8 OPERATING PRECAUTIONS

9.8.1 Lopping and limbing

a. Always start with the largest diameter going towards the tip to limb the plant or any

secondary branches.

b. Always assume the most stable and safe position possible before throttling the chainsaw. If

necessary, maintain balance by placing the knee closer to the trunk itself.

c. Hold the chainsaw leaning against the tree trunk to minimize fatigue, turning it to the right

or left in accordance with the position of the branch you wish to cut (Fig. ).

d. In the case of branches under tension, look for a safe position to protect yourself from

possible spring-back. Always start cutting from the side opposite the bend.

e. When cutting large branches, take advantage of the bucking tooth, pivoting on it.

WARNING

Do not use the upper edge of the tip of the bar especially for limbing as there is a

risk of receiving a kickback.

9.8.2 Precautions for the work area

• Do not work near power lines.

• Work only in conditions offering sufficient visibility and light to see clearly.

• Stop the engine before setting the chainsaw down.

• Be particularly cautious and alert when wearing hearing protection, as such equipment may

limit your ability to hear sounds indicating danger (shouts, signals, warnings, etc.).

• Be extremely careful when working on slopes or uneven terrain.

• Do not cut above shoulder height; with a high grip of the chainsaw, it is difficult to control

and counter tangential forces (kickback).

• Do not cut from a ladder, this is extremely dangerous.

• Stop the chainsaw if the chain strikes a foreign object. Inspect the chainsaw and repair or

replace damaged parts as necessary. Also inspect the machine in case it accidentally falls.

• Keep the chain clean of dirt and sand. Even a small amount of dirt quickly makes the chain

dull and increases the chance of kickback.

• Always keep the handles dry and clean.
