6.HEATLINE-2 TWIN-CORED
UNDERFLOOR HEATING
The heating unit (Figure А3) is a structure made of a
twin-core heating shield cable (Figure А5), which is
plugged with the end sleeve at one end and hookup
wired with a reliable straight-through joint at the other
end.
This structure is the most convenient when installing the
system in rooms with various floor configurations.
Heating unit parameters are mentioned on page
25, Section 14.
7. ASSEMBLY TAPE
The assembly tape (Figure А2) is intended for fixing
a heating unit on the heated surface. The precisely
computed installation spacing is achieved due to
holding the cable on the assembly tape enabling to
heat a surface of any irregular configuration. Changing
the installation spacing enables achieving any required
specific capacity in various heating units.
Depending on the length of the heating unit, the
Heatline-2 underfloor heating includes 5 m, 10
m or 20 m assembly tapes. If required, you can
buy the assembly tape separately. The Heatline®
assembly tape is manufactured in 5 m, 10 m and
20 m package units.
8. THERMOSTAT
Heatline-2 underfloor heating can be controlled through
the thermostat that provides precise and optimum
regulation of temperatures both in respect of the comfort
and energy saving.
The total power of the underfloor heating units connected
to one thermostat in 16А should not exceed 2.5 kW.
The thermostat is not included in the Heatline-2
underfloor set and can be purchased separately.
When being installed, a heating unit should not
be affected by solvents, oil, lubricants and other
similar substances.
7. Place the temperature gage in the corrugated tube,
which is a part of the underfloor heating set. The
gage should be positioned inside the tube closer
to its end. Unavoidably seal up the tube end with
the gage ending in the floor to prevent the mortar
getting into it. Place and fasten the tube with the
gage on the surface that is to be heated between
heat tape coils and take it out to the thermostat.
8. Take out he heating unit hookup wire to the
thermostat location along the prepared wall chases
(Figure A6.4).
9. Check visually if there are broken wires. Using the
ohmmeter, measure the heating unit resistance as it
is described in Section 9, page 22.
Write down the measured data into the Warranty
Certificate, page 26, Section 15.
10. Grout in 20 to 50 mm thick mortar bed onto
the heating unit (Figure A6.5) and let it dry in
accordance with the mortar application manual.
11. Using the ohmmeter, measure the heating unit
resistance as described in Section 9, page 22.
Write down the measured data into the Warranty
Certificate, page 26, Section 15.
In the event that the measured parameters are
satisfactory let the solution get fully dry in accordance
with the mortar application manual.
12. After the mortar gets fully dry, measure the
heating unit resistance as it is described
in Section 9, page 22.
Write down the measured data into the Warranty
Certificate, page 26, Section 15.
To apply a heating unit without a thermostat is
PROHIBITED!
You can buy thermostats from the line manufactured
by HEAT LINE Manufacturing Company LLC.
9. PREPARATION FOR INSTALLATION
Before you start installing the Heatline-2 system we
recommend you to make sure that you have chosen
the set that will fit your room.
We recommend to lay heating units in such a way that
there wouldn’t be any legless furniture above them.
Place heating units only in the area free of heavy
furniture (Figure А4).
The same heating unit cannot be used for heating
various types of rooms at the same time (for
example, a bathroom and a passage corridor). It is
required to install separate heating units with their
thermostats in such rooms.
Before installing, measure heating unit resistance at
ambient temperature approximately 20
0
С using the
ohmmeter. Compare the measured resistance value with
the one in the table, page 25, Section 14. The variation
between the measured value and the value in the table
should not exceed 15%. If the variation exceeds 15%
contact the seller of this product.
Also, using the ohmmeter, measure heating unit
insulation resistance. Its value should be not less than
1,000 Mohm. If this value is less than 1,000 Mohm the
heating unit can’t be installed. Contact the seller of this
product.
Write down the measured data in the Warranty
Certificate, page 26, Section 15.
10. WIRING SYSTEM AND THERMOSTAT
LOCATION
Standard electric wiring system, according to Electrical
Installation Code (2001 version), shall stand the following
currents and relevant load power:
For your safety we recommend to install ground fault
circuit interrupters or a differential breaker.
Ground fault circuit interrupters or a differential
breaker should be unavoidably used when
underfloor heating is installed in wet rooms.
(bathrooms, swimming pools, saunas, etc.)
11. HEATLINE-2 UNDERFLOOR HEATING
INSTALLATION
The minimum installation
temperature should be +10
о
С.
1. Choose and prepare a location where a thermostat
is to be installed (Figure А6.1). It shall be mounted
on a wall in such a way so as not to prevent placing
of furniture.
Thermostats in rooms with high humidity
(bathrooms, saunas, swimming pools) should be
placed outside such rooms.
2. Chase a wall for electrical wiring, heating unit end
sleeves and the temperature gage unit.
3. Prepare the floor surface: the sub-floor should be
even and compact. Thoroughly clear the surface
surface off dust and rubbish (preferably, apply the
priming coat).
4. Lay and fix lavsan heat insulation using scotch
(Figure A6.2).
5. Lay out and fasten the assembly tape on the
surface (Figure A6.3).
6. Lay a heating unit on the floor and fix it using the
assembly tape. The heating unit should be laid in
such a way so as to be at a distance of not less
than 100 mm from any other heaters, for example,
risers, pipes and radiators.
