the instructions you will find in this manual in order to exploit these speakers qualities at best.

problems well; if you think not to have the right tools or the necessary experience, please contact a

DAMAGE YOUR HEARING; THEREFORE, PLEASE USE COMMON SENSE AND PRATICE

SAFE SOUND.

Safety must be at the first place while driving; you should always be able to hear the noise generated

by your car or coming from the outside, in order to promptly face possible emergency situations.

Recommendations

HERTZ HI-ENERGY HBX speakers were designed to integrate their acoustic response with the latest

cars compartment response; therefore, they are perfectly suitable to customised, complex installations.

Let us remind you that the speaker is not a complete element: the system it is used into, the way it

is installed and the system tuning will directly affect acoustic performances and reliability. The speaker

warranty is void if the product is used in wrong or improper ways.

very good low bass response and clear, crisp sound. Terminals can be connected in series or in

parallel; they are located in a special housing which prevents vibrations. The die-cast grille eliminates

direct resonances and compression. The anti-scratch, epoxy paint with titanium dust and the

absence of sharp corners ease the box placement, make its installation safer and avoid noise.

Connecting your subwoofer

HI-ENERGY HBX series offers models which use double voice coil speakers and a two woofer model.

All subwoofer have a four pole connector with which it’s possible to change the connecting mode

to adjust the loading to the type of amplifier used.

Choosing your cable

Power cables are extremely important since they directly affect the system damping factor; in the

enclosed table, we show cable diameters, which we recommend according to length and applied

power. (see drawing 2)

and calibrate your amplifier:

• The amplifier gain level should be adjusted in order to keep power in a linear functioning area,

• If possible, use subsonic filter by setting its cut-off frequency around 25 Hz. (see drawing B)

• Avoid to use loudness or equalisers at low frequencies (<150 Hz): HI-ENERGY HBX subwoofers

have full, smooth response and don’t need any corrections that might cause the amplifier saturation

or distortion. (see drawing C)

• The subwoofer connection phase determines acoustic results and needs to be tested by listening

to it. It might be necessary to invert it according to the configuration of main speakers and of other

electronic devices in the system. Make some listening tests in both ways and choose the solution

you prefer. (see drawing 1)

• It is very difficult to know in advance the results you will get in your car compartment; remember

that you can adjust bass also by changing the subwoofer position inside the trunk. Before designing

the complete installation in the trunk, you’d better make some tests by moving the box and the port

and speaker emitting direction. (see drawing D)

Warranty restrictions

Please carefully read warranty terms and keep both the manual and the original box.

Warranty is void:

1. For damages caused by accidents, abuse, improper operation, water, theft.

2. If after sale service is performed by anyone other than HERTZ authorised service centers.

3. If serial number has been spoiled, altered or removed from the product.

4. For damages caused by overdriving or excessive distorsion due to non-linear functioning of

power supply.
