V POURING IN ENGINE OIL 5 Pour in specified quantity of fresh engine oil Screw in dipstick 1 Run engine briefly torque Pour in fresh transmission oil to bottom edge of filler hole Screw noil filler plug and tighten to speci fied tightening torque Capacity of transmission NOTE Dipstick is only inserted into filler opening for checking oil level and not screwed in 0 801 26 Nm 31 Nm Grades of transmission oil Proprietary Hypoid trans mission oil of API Class GL5 Use ability of the particu lar viscosity classes is limited by the ambient temper ature Wait approximately 5 minutes and then check oil level on dipstick CAUTION D r An d R ii i 1 b enr l Rum bcli th 81 In Uhl in i al I dtn erun i Dei I Ode i Stuh Ce 1 nr 11 Tightening torque Oil drain plug transmission Oil filter plug transmission above 5 C Never pour in engine oil to above MAX mark below 5 C SAE 90 SAE 80 or alternatively SAE80W90 Top up missing quantity of oil jjk Quantity of oil between MIN and MAX F marks 0 85 I CAUTION Capacity of engine R BO GS R 100 GS 2 001 with Oli filter change R 80 GS R 100 GS 2 251 lightening torque it drain plug engine 2 10 CHANGING OIL AND OIL FILTER IN ENGINE Inspection I II III Allow engine oil to flow out Screw in oil drain plug with new sealing ring and tighten to specified tightening top Use of other grades and classes of oil in the transmission may result in premature dam age to the gears 30 Nm 2 11 CHANGING OIL IN TRANSMIS SION Inspection I III CHANGING OIL FILTER Slacken the 3 fastening screws 1 and take cover 2 off oil filter housing Drain oil from oil cooler use compressed air if necessary to force out oil Take O ring 3 4 off cover Withdraw oil filter cartridge 5 from the in take manifold Fit newoil filter cartridge onto intake man ifold with collar 5 facing engine Fit on cover with new O ring 3 4 and tighten with three fastening screws Change the oil filter in the same way on the R 80 GS but note that O ring 4 is not fitted NOTE Change transmission oil only when trans mission at normal operating temperature NOTE tl OXI Change engineoil only when engine atnormal operating temperature Unscrew dipstick 1 Place suitable draining vessel below oil AnA n i n fT Place suitable collecting vessel below oil drain opening Slacken oil drain plug 1 Slacken oil filler plug 2 Allow transmission oil to flow out Fit new sealing ring to oil drain plug screw in oil drain plug and tighten to specified 2 21
