Dunlop QZ-1 [2/2] Operating instructions
SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove the 4 screws in the bottom of the pedal to access the bat-

the approved AC adapter. The Q Zone CRYBABY QZ-1 will operate on
either power source. You can leave the battery in place when using
AC power.
2. Run a cord from your guitar to the Q Zone’s Input jack. The jacks are
located on the left and right sides of the housing as indicated on the
top of the pedal.
3. Run another cord from your amplier input into the Output jack.
Turn on the amplier.
4. To turn the pedal on and use it, simply step on the switch until LED
is lit.
5. Have fun! The Q Zone CRYBABY QZ-1 is built to last under the
toughest performance conditions, and will give you many years of
pleasure.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
PEAK By turning the PEAK control on the pedal, you can change the
effect that the Q Zone has on your tone. Clockwise will give you more
treble, counter-clockwise will give you more bass.
By selecting a position for the PEAK control, you’ll hear a boost in
one particular frequency range. This “dynamic tone control” can be
a very useful effect to add sustain, or create feedback at a desired
overtone.
Stepping on the footswitch toggles the effect between on and bypass
mode. In the bypass mode, both the effect and the preset volume
boost are switched off.
VARIABLE Q The Variable Q control modulates the intensity of
the effect by adjusting the lter’s selective bandpass shape. “High”
gives a narrow, sharp peak to the affected frequency range; while
“Low” delivers a more subtle wah by spreading the effect over a
broader range.
VOLUME CONTROLS The Volume knob is a BOOST ONLY
device that adds up to 18dB gain to your signal while the Q Zone effect
is in use. Turning Volume to its lowest setting will not shut off your
signal, it simply adds no boost.
TIPS WHERE SHOULD YOU PUT THE Q ZONE IN YOUR EFFECTS
SIGNAL CHAIN? In most circumstances, your guitar is plugged into
the Q Zone rst, and other effects come later. This keeps the ltered
tones pleasantly subtle, and adds the other effects’ tonal colors on
top of the wah sound. Putting the Q Zone later (or last) in the effects
loop is much less subtle, and adds the ltered tones to ALL sounds,
harmonics and all. This might be desirable if you want the lter effect
to be strong and unmistakable.
For longest battery life, be sure to UNPLUG YOUR CORDS when the
Q Zone is not in use.
