RECORD PLAYING PREPARATION Place a record on the platter For 17 cm 7 inch records put the supplied 45 rpm adaptor over the center spindle Lower the amplifier volume and set the input selector to PHONO Set the SYNC switch on the rear of the turntable to OFF if synchronized play with the cassette deck is not required 3 To move the drop point inward turn the screw clockwise To move the drop point outward turn the screw counterclockwise Be sure not to turn screw counterclockwise so far that the stylus tip cannot make contact with the record AUTO PLAY 1 Press the POWER switch n ON 2 Select the correct record speed 3 Set the cueing lever to the 5 position 4 Unlock the arm rest latch and remove the stylus guard 5 Press the START STOP key When the tonearm reaches the end of the record it will automatically return to the arm rest Press the POWER switch to turn the unit off after the tonearm returns to the arm rest Notes 25 cm 10 in records and transparent records cannot be played automatically To play these records turn the rubber mat so that the auto record size selection holes are covered and proceed as in MANUAL PLAY on this page Do not turn the POWER switch off while playing The tonearm will remain on the record and the stylus and the record will be damaged If the POWER switch is turned off while the tonearm is returning to the arm rest the tonearm will stop at that point and will continue returning to the arm rest when the POWER switch is turned on the next time While the tonearm is returning the START STOP key does not ac tivate the record playing At first playing or after when the turntable has been subjected to strong vibration or shock the record size selection may malfunction as follows The tonearm may lower onto the platter when the START STOP key is pressed even if there is no record on the platter The tonearm may lower on the point for a 17 cm record even if the 30 cm record size has been selected If this happens press the START STOP key to return the tonearm to the arm rest and press the button again to restart play Tonearm drop point adjustment The tonearm s drop point during auto play has been ad justed at the factory If this needs to be readjusted pro ceed as follows 1 Be sure that the POWER switch is turned off and the tonearm is secured to the arm rest 2 Insert a screwdriver into the tonearm drop point hole 4 Start auto play and check that the stylus lowers at the correct drop point If the drop point is correct for 30 cm 12 in record it will also be correct for 17 cm 7 in records MANUAL PLAY To begin record play at a par ticular point 1 Press the POWER switch n ON 2 Select the correct record speed 3 Set the cueing lever to the position 4 Unlock the arm rest latch and remove the stylus guard 5 Bring the tonearm to the point over the record at which you want to start play 6 Press the START STOP key When the tonearm reaches the end of the record it will automatically return to the arm rest Press the POWER switch to turn the unit off after the tonearm returns to the arm rest Note If you bring the tonearm too near the record label the tonearm may move slightly outwards as a result of hav ing activated the automatic return mechanism TO LIFT UP THE STYLUS DURING PLAY Set the cueing lever to V To start playing from the same point set the cueing lever to V To start playing from a different part of the record move the tonearm by hand to the desired point of the record then set the cueing lever to V TO STOP DURING PLAY Press the START STOP key The tonearm will lift up and automatically return to the arm rest
