Tips for working with the appliance
Remove stalks, pits and peels from the food. Before processing, cut large food into rather small pieces.
Work in a pulsing rhythm, this means grinding/blending for some seconds, then pause shortly. Repeat
this procedure several times.
Food with a strong odor, like e.g. cinnamon sticks, may transfer some odour/taste to the lids of the
containers. This is quite normal and no reason for complaint. We recommend, therefore, purchasing an
additional grinding/blending container, which can be used for such foods. Spare containers are available
at your service point.
Spices with intense essential oils (e.g. caraway, clove etc.) may affect and dull the inside surface of the
containers’ lids. This is normal and no reason for complaint.
With this appliance, you can process semifluid dips and pesto. However, use ingredients like olive oil or
sunflower oil only in minor quantities and only in the blending container.
Not suitable for processing are:
°
food that is too humid, like apples, onions, carrots
°
fluid ingredients like water, yoghurt and similar
°
fluid sauces and dips
°
ice cubes to produce crushed ice.
The stated values in the below chart are approximate and mainly depend on the freshness and quality
of the food as well as on your personal taste.
Interesting facts about coffee
The taste of beverages containing coffee depends on the quality of the used coffee or espresso beans.
Condition for the aromatic preparation of beverages with coffee is the perfect grinding of the roasted
beans as this increases the surface for the contact with water and thus, the release of flavours.
A roasted coffee bean contains more than 1,000 different flavouring substances. The finer the grinding,
the more substances are released.
After a few minutes already, the ground powder loses more the 50 % of its flavour. Therefore, coffee
specialists recommend storing whole coffee beans and only grinding the quantity just needed.
Different coffee beverages require different coarseness settings; but also the beans’ sort and roasting as
well as your personal taste decide on how fine the coffee powder should be ground. Try it yourself until
you have found your individual coarseness setting by means of the setting possibilities.
°
Coarse powder is suitable for hand-filtered coffee.
°
Use medium powder with usual boiler espresso machines.
°
Fine powder is suitable for filter coffee makers or for automatic pump-pressure espresso machines.
°
Extra-fine powder is recommended for manual mocha-making.
