Chapter 2: Hardware Setup

Press the power buttons on the front panel to power on the RackStation

and RX1216sas. The Expansion Unit ID of RX1216sas connected to the

RackStation will be displayed in sequence on the back panel.

Note:

1. Once you power on/off the RackStation unit, your expansion unit(s) will

automatically power on/off one by one if they are correctly connected.

2. Even with the RackStation and expansion unit(s) powered on, you can

connect RX1216sas to another or more RX1216sas if needed. To do so,

repeat step 1 and 2 above to connect the mini-SAS cables and power cords

of the other expansion units. Your expansion units will automatically power on

if they are correctly connected, and the Expansion Unit ID will be displayed

accordingly after a few seconds.

3. The actual number of expansion units that can be connected depends on the

performance limitations and specications of the RackStation.
