O
Place the nozzle on the carpet and draw slowly over the carpet in a
straight line.
At the end of a cleaning strip or during interruptions, press the button
(28) to stop the spray jet. When the sprayed liquid has been extracted,
raise the nozzle and begin the next strip, with a slight overlap. In this way,
the entire area can be cleaned strip for strip.
Should traces of liquid remain on the cleaned strips, these can be extrac-
ted without spraying the areas concerned again.
For heavily soiled areas, preliminary treatment can be carried out via the
"Spray only" function (button 28).
Do not apply too much liquid, as this may cause ripples or bulges in the
carpet, which will disappear only after a prolonged drying process.
To prevent the liquid in the suction pipe from running out during breaks
in work, you should hold the suction tube and hose upwardly inclined
for a few seconds while the motor is still running. Then switch off the
appliance.
Emptying the soiled-water tank
Please note!
To avoid automatic shut-down of the appliance, empty the soiled-water
container when a complete filling of cleaning agent from the fresh water tank
has been used up.
N
The THOMAS SYNTHO AQUAFILTER switches off automatically when
the soiled-water tank is full. The red control-lamp (13) then lights up and
stays alight continuously.
If this happens, turn the appliance off at the control-switch (16), and
remove the mains plug from the socket.
L Open the housing lid, lift the soiled-water tank (27) out of the appliance
by the handle (77) and empty the tank. Remove major soiling and fluff
from soiled-water tank, anti-sloshing insert (22), float (25) and wet filter
(26), before continuing.
E If necessary, remove spray water from the suction compartment (81) with
a soft cloth.
Cleaning upholstery
C
Use the upholstery spraying nozzle (56) to clean upholstered furniture,
car seats and similar. Slide this nozzle onto the handle (32) and connect
the plug (57) to the socket coupler (31).
To detach the nozzle, press and hold the release button (58) while pulling
out the plug (57).
When cleaning upholstery, be careful not to apply too much liquid, as a
longer drying time may then be necessary, depending on the supporting
structure.
For cleaning procedure, see carpet cleaning.
Replacement cleaning concentrate is available from your dealer or the
THOMAS service department (see Section 8.0).
For perfect results, use only the original cleaning agent.
5.3 Set-up for wet vacuuming
This function enables you to vacuum spilled, non-hazardous, water-based
liquids (e.g. water, coffee or similar). Select the desired nozzle and fit this to the
suction tube or the handle.
See section 5.2.
It is recommended to vacuum a maximum of 3 litres of liquid
and then to empty the soiled-water tank.
See Section 5.2, "Emptying the soiled-water tank".
5.4 Care and maintenance after wet-cleaning
Disconnect the mains plug.
M Remove and empty fresh water tank (7).
L Remove soiled-water tank (27) from the appliance by the handle (77),
empty and clean. In case of stubborn dirt, warm soapy water is recom-
mended; do not use abrasive detergents or solvents.
Anti-sloshing insert (22) and wet filter (26) can be removed for cleaning.
Please note!
M
To clean pump and valves fill the fresh water tank (7) with
tap water and insert it.
N Connect mains plug and switch on the appliance at the
master ON/OFF switch (16).
O Now start the spray system by pressing the button (28),
e.g. over a rinsing sink.
To clean the inside walls of the suction hose and the suction tube, occasionally
vacuum up between two and three litres of lukewarm tap-water out of a
container, with the hose and tube attached.
After cleaning, allow both the containers, all parts detached and the appliance
itself to dry out thoroughly.
K
Check whether motor protection filter (20) is soiled. If so, clean under
running water.
If necessary, clean and dry the suction compartment (81) and the under-
side of the housing lid with a soft cloth.
Please use a moist, soft cloth to clean the housing of the appliance.
Do not use abrasive detergents or solvents.
6.0 Steam vacuuming / Cleaning-vacuuming/Steam cleaning/Steam ironing
6.1 Information and safety instructions for use
● Materials which are sensitive to moisture and increased temperatures are
unsuitable for steam treatment; such materials include
- waxed floors
- unsealed wood
- various plastic floorings or coverings
- various textiles
- synthetic carpets and curtains
In cases of doubt, please always consult the manufacturer or dealer
concerned.
● Carry out a test in a concealed area.
● At the beginning of steam cleaning/steam ironing, it is advisable to direct
the jet of steam at first on a separate cloth.
● Never extract liquids or steam without the soiled-water
tank.
● Caution! Petrol, thinner, fuel oil etc. may form explosive fumes or mixtures,
if allowed to mix with the suction air flow.
●
Please also observe the "Important information" in section 1.1.
6.2 Steam vacuuming
General preparation
For procedure, see section 5.2. "General preparation"
(up to
M
).
Carry out the work described below with the mains plug disconnected.
N Unscrew the steam safety closure (10) by pressing and turning at the
same time.
S Fill the steam boiler with a maximum of 1.3 litres of tap water, using the
funnel (59,
according to machine type).
When the tap water contains very high levels of lime, it is recommended to use
distilled water, in order to prevent furring of the boiler (see Section 6.5). Your
local waterworks will be able to inform you of the hardness of your tap water.
N Screw up the steam safety closure (10) by again pressing and turning at
the same time.
