8.6 Assembling pump/unit
8.6.1 Pre-requisites:
Assembly according to the associated sectional drawing.
Check O-rings, renew if necessary.
Assemble without assembling tools where possible.
Tighten screws according to the torque indicated. See point 8.7 on page 34
Clean dismantled components and check them for wear. Replace with original spare parts if
necessary.
Sealing surfaces must be clean and free of grease.
8.6.2 Assembling meachanical seal
NOTICE
Observe the following points:
– Clean and careful working methods.
– Only remove protection against contact on sliding surfaces directly before assembly.
– Use water as an assembly agent.
– Never use oil or grease as an assembly agent.
Fixed seal
Observe figure 15.
1. Spacer sleeve (523.1) must be positioned on the shaft.
2. Assemble the rotating unit of the mechanical seal (433) on the shaft (211).
3. Assemble the counter ring of the mechanical seal (433) in the pressure cover (163).
4. Insert the O-rings (412.1).
5. Assemble the discharge cover (163) on the pump’s outer casing.
6. Put the drive lantern (161) on.
7. Tighten the nuts (920.1).
Easy access seal
Observe figure 16.
1. Position the O-ring (412.6) and the counter ring of the mechanical seal (433) in the discharge cover
(471).
2. Slide the spacer sleeve (523.2) onto the shaft (211).
3. Assemble the rotating unit of the mechanical seal (433) on the shaft (211).
4. Slide the discharge cover (471) over the shaft (211) and push it into the drive lantern (161).
5. Tighten the hexagon socket screws (914.3).
Cartridge seal
Observe figure 17.
1. Assemble the O-ring in the shaft sleeve.
2. Assemble the rotating unit of the mechanical seal (433) on the shaft sleeve.
3. Assemble the O-ring and the counter ring of the mechanical seal (433) in the discharge cover (471).
4. Screw the headless screws lightly into the ring.
5. Slide the discharge cover (471) onto the shaft sleeve.
6. Slide the ring onto the shaft sleeve and tighten the three headless screws.
7. Slide the shaft sleeve onto the shaft (211) and push the discharge cover (471) into the drive lantern
(161).
8. Tighten the hexagon socket screws (914.3).
9. Tighten the headless screws again.
