Grillo Climber 10 AWD 27 [12/91] Putting the machine into service
Climber 10/ Translation of the original instructions
PUTTING THE MACHINE INTO SERVICE
1) Check that the machine has not been damaged during transport.
2) Check the oil level in the engine, tank and hydrostatic transmission.
3) Check the tyre pressure:
- 1,2 BAR front wheels 4.00 – 8 (AWD 22)
- 1,2 BAR front wheels 16 x 6.50 – 8 tubeless (AWD 27)
- 1,5 BAR rear wheels 20 x 10.00 – 8 tubeless
4) Check the battery voltage; it must be at least 12 Volts. Charge if necessary. Recharge the battery
with a slow charger at 12 Volt for at least two hours. IMPORTANT: During assembly take care not
to reverse the polarity of the battery.
BATTERY
Batteries produce explosive gases. Keep batteries away from sources of ignition such as flames and
sparkles. Put appropriate grease on the battery posts.
RUNNING IN – CAUTION!!
Change both the engine oil and the oil filter within the first 20 working hours. Check that there are no
oil leaks or loose screws, especially those fixing the blade, the steering and the wheels. Check the
tension of the hydrostatic transmission belt.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE
Before starting up the engine, always check:
that the engine oil level is correct (fig. 2)
that the hydraulic oil level is correct (to be seen externally on the half of the tank – fig. 11)
that the forward lever is in neutral position (fig. 1B, n. 2)
that the engine cooling grids are clean (fig. 4)
that the air filter is thoroughly clean (fig. 5)
that the cutting deck is thoroughly clean
that the front hydrostatic axle is clean
that the blades are well-sharpened and well-fastened (fig. 6, ref. A – tightening torque 105 Nm)
that the central screw of the blade hub is well fixed (fig. 6, ref. B – tightening torque 135 Nm)
Fill the fuel tank using a funnel with very fine filter (fig.1A, no.13). IMPORTANT: stock the fuel in a
steel or specifically approved tank.
Adjust the seat shock absorber using the lever (fig. 1D – on 10 AWD 27 only).
STARTING UP THE ENGINE CLIMBER 10 AWD 22
Push the throttle lever half-way. If the engine is cold engage the starter device (fig. 1B, n. 9). Turn the
ignition key on the dashboard. Once the engine is on, release the key and bring the throttle lever back
to get the max. engine r.p.m. To switch off the engine turn the key into the “STOP” position.
STARTING UP THE ENGINE CLIMBER 10 AWD 27
Put the ignition key into the ignition lock and turn it until the oil light goes on. Push the throttle lever
fully forward to automatically engage the starter device (fig. 1B, n. 10). Turn the ignition key on the
dashboard (fig. 1, no. 1). Once the engine is on, release the key and bring the throttle lever back to
get the max. engine r.p.m. (fig. 1B, no. 10). To switch off the engine turn the key into the “STOP”
position (fig. 1, n. 1). Important: The starter must be engaged every time the machine is started (fig.
1B, n. 10 – lever fully onwards).
STARTING WORK
Choose the cutting height using the lever (fig. 1C, n. 8), speed up the engine up to half r.p.m. (fig.
1B, n. 10) and engage the PTO lever outside the area to be cut (fig. 1, n. 6) and bring the engine
back to max. r.p.m. before starting mowing. Gently operate the forward lever and start working (fig.
