PTO BELT ADJUSTMENT
To adjust the tension of the PTO belt use the adjusting screw (fig. 4, A) and set the spring
compression at 3 mm at least (fig. 10, A). The blade brake is made of friction material (fig. 10, B).
During work the pulley detachment should be minimal and has to take place in the final phase of
the PTO belt tightener stroke. This stroke can be adjusted through a rod located in the lower part of
the machine (fig. 11).
TROUBLESHOOTING
The following is a list of small problems which may occur during the use of the hydrostatic all
purpose flail and that the operator himself can remedy.
1) if the engine does not start, check:
– that the fuel tank is at least half full;
– that the petrol cock is open;
– that the choke is engaged (when the engine is cold);
– that fuel is normally going to the carburettor;
– that the vent hole on the fuel tank is not clogged;
– that the carburettor jets are clean. Check by unscrewing them and if dirty, clean them with a jet of
air;
– that spark plug is generating a spark. To check this, remove the spark plug, re-connect it to the
electricity supply wire, rest the metal side on an electrical earth and turn the engine-pulley as if to
start it. If no spark is seen between the electrodes, check the connection of the spark plug cable; if
there is still no current replace the spark plug with a new one. If a spark is still not obtained, the
problem is in the electric system: capacitor, coil, or in some other component. Contact your nearest
service centre or a specialist workshop.
2) If the engine is on but the machine does not move forward:
– check that the forward gear lever is located in the appropriate eyelet (fig. 12).
– check that the forward gear lever (fig. 2, n. 1) is fully pressed down and that the belt in fornt of
the engine is well-tensioned (fig. 13, A). Should this not be the case, use the adjusting screw on
the forward gear cable (fig. 4, B).
3) If the rotor does not turn:
– check that the PTO lever (fig. 2, n. 2) is not locked (positioned towards the front part of the
machine – see label fig. 1).
– check that the gear lever is in forward gear and not in reverse.
– check that the red clutch lever is fully pressed down and that the clutch spring extends at at least
3 mm and that the belt is well tensioned (fig. 10, C).
- check that the implement is properly mounted and well aligned with the machine.
4) if the engine cannot be switched off:
– check that the throttle lever (fig. 2, n. 4) is in “OFF” position (fig. 3, F).
– check that the electric wire to switch off the engine is correctly connected with the throttle lever
and with the connector on the engine.
5) if the engine looses power during work:
– slow down
– set the all purpose flail at a greater cutting height.
6) if the cut is uneven:
– check the tyre pressure
– check that the Y-shaped blades are well sharpened
7) If the machine does not stay in neutral position remove the M8 self-locking nut (fig. 14, A) then
tighten the swivel head (fig. 14, B) to move the machine forward or loosen it to move the machine
backwards.
