WARNING

• Never wrap the starter rope around your hand.

• When pulling the starter rope, do not use its full length; this can cause it to

break.

• Do not release the rope abruptly; hold the starter grip (Fig. 16) and let the

rope rewind slowly.

NOTE

A new machine may require additional pulls.

6. Put the starter lever in the OPEN position (B, Fig. 15).

7. Pull the starter rope to start the engine.

8. Once the machine has started, let it warm up for a few seconds without touching the

throttle.

NOTE

The machine may need several seconds to warm up in cold weather or at high

altitudes.

9. Finally, press the throttle (17, Fig. 2) to deactivate the half-throttle.

WARNING

• With the engine idling, the cutting device must not turn. If the problem persists,

have the machine checked by an Authorized Service Center so that it can be

properly rectified.

• Do not use the starter to start the engine when already hot.

• Only use the half-throttle device when starting the engine in cold weather.

NOTE

It is normal for a new engine to smoke during and after its first use.

8.4 STOPPING THE ENGINE

1. Move the throttle lever to idle (17, Fig. 2).

2. Wait a few seconds to allow the engine to cool down.

3. Stop the engine by pressing the STOP button (16, Fig. 2).

8.5 FLOODED ENGINE

1. Remove the screw (22, Fig. 2).

2. Remove the spark plug housing (11, Fig. 2)

3. If the boot is hard to remove, apply a suitable tool to the spark plug.

4. Pry off the spark plug boot.
