• Try to work rhythmically. Stand firmly with your feet apart. Move forward after the return

stroke and stand firmly again.

• Let the support cap graze the ground so that the blade does not touch the ground.

• Reduce the risk of material wrapping around the blade by following these instructions:

• Always work at full throttle.

• Avoid the previously cut material during the return stroke.

• Stop the engine, unhook the harness and place the machine on the ground before

starting to collect the cut material.

10 MAINTENANCE

WARNING

• Always wear protective gloves during maintenance operations.

• Do not carry out maintenance with the engine hot.

• Failure to maintain or improper maintenance, removal or modification of safety

devices, and/or use of non-original spare parts, can cause serious or fatal injury

to the operator or third parties.

Do not use fuel (2-stroke mixture) for cleaning.

10.1 SHARPENING GRASS-CUTTING BLADES (2-3-4 TEETH)

Grass-cutting blades are sharpened with a single-cut flat file (Fig. 17).

WARNING

• If you do not have the specific skills to properly sharpen the blades, contact an

authorized service center.

• An unsuitable cutting tool or improperly sharpened blade increases the risk of

kickback.

• Check grass-cutting blades for damage or cracks; if they are damaged, replace

them.

• Do not weld, straighten or change the shape of damaged cutting devices in an

attempt to repair them. Such operations can result in the cutting device

becoming detached and causing serious or fatal injury.

• Blades should never be repaired, but should be replaced as soon as the

beginnings of breakage are detected or when the sharpness limit is exceeded.

CAUTION

• To maintain balance, file all cutting edges evenly.

• If the blades are not sharpened properly, they can create abnormal vibrations in

the machine resulting in blade breakage.
