OIL COOLING AND LUBRICATION SYSTEM 5 11 OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR REMOVAL Remove the right frame side cover O 6 3 Disconnect the oil temperature sensor lead wire coupler Remove the oil temperature sensor INSPECTION Check the oil temperature sensor by testing it at the bench as shown in the figure Connect the temperature sensor to a circuit tester and place it in the oil contained in a pan which is placed on a stove Heat the oil to raise its temperature slowly and read the column thermometer 2 and the ohmmeter If the temperature sensor ohmic value does not change in the proportion indicated replace it with a new one ESQ Temperature sensor specification Temperature Standard resistance Approx 61 3 kii 20 C 68 F 50 C 122 F Approx 17 8 kfi 80 C 176 F Approx 6 2 kfi 100 C 212 F Approx 3 4 kfi 110 C 230 F Approx 2 5 kfi If the resistance noted to show infinity or loo much different resis tance value replace the temperature sensor with a new one CAUTION Take special care when handling the temperature sen sor It may cause damage If It gets a sharp Impact Do not contact the oil temperature sensor and the column thermometer 2 with a pan INSTALLATION Install the new O ring Tighten the oil temperature sensor retainer to torque B Oil temperature sensor 10 N m 1 0 kgfm 7 3 Ib ft ICAUTTON Take special care when handling the temperature sen sor It may cause damage if It gets a sharp impact Install the right frame side cover C7 6 3 the specified
