4. How To Set Up G.SHDSL Ports
Use the following command sequence to set the rate and operation mode of any G.SHDSL port on the
SAM1008.
1. 192.168.1.1> gshdsl
2. 192.168.1.1 gshdsl> set profile <name> <Cmax> [<Cmin>]
3. 192.168.1.1 gshdsl> set port <port #> <profile name>
where
<profile name> = Name of your profile.
<port #> = Port number, from 1 to 8.
<Cmax> = Configured maximum speed in Kbps.
[<Cmin>] = The minimum transmission rate in Kbps. This setting is optional. 192 Kbps is
the default if you do not configure a value for this parameter. Setting “Cmax”
and “Cmin” to the same rate fixes the rate for that port.
For examples, refer to the
user’s guide
. Enter the list ports command to view the status of all ports.
Configure <Cmax> and <Cmin> parameters between 192 and 2048 Kbps. Actual speeds
depend on the line noise and quality.
5. How To Enable DSL Ports
Network modules are shipped with all DSL ports disabled. Use the following command sequence to enable
a specific DSL port (these commands are for the SAM1008, simply substitute “adsl” for “gshdsl” for the
AAM1008).
1. 192.168.1.1> gshdsl
2. 192.168.1.1 gshdsl> enable port <port number>
where
<port number> = port number, from 1 to 8.
Use the following command sequence to enable all DSL ports.
1. 192.168.1.1> gshdsl
2. 192.168.1.1 gshdsl> enable ports
To reduce heat generation and enhance reliability, ZyXEL recommends that you disable
a port (disable port <port number>) when it is not in use. An enabled but disconnected
DSL port generates more heat than an operating port.
