Aquael STERYLIZER UV AS 9w [5/9] English

Aquael STERYLIZER UV AS 9w [5/9] English
STERILIZER UV as
Installation of the sterilizer in a FZKN lter:
1. mount the uorescent lamp,
2. screw out the plug at the bottom of the FZKN lter container (g.), according
to the „OUT” arrow,
3. remove the quartz cover (7) along with the tting (10) mounted in it and the uore-
scent lamp (8) from the lamp housing (6), insert in the opening in the bottom of the
FZKN container and screw it in until refusal according to the „IN” arrow (g.), to
the position shown in gure (other wise the uorescent lamp will not work)
4. from the inside of the FZKN container install the UV sterilizer cover, paying atten-
tion to its proper, vertical placement.
Upon application of the UV sterilizer inside a FZKN lter, the sterilizer housing (6) is
not needed. Its tasks (prevention of propagation of harmful UV-C radiation and inten-
sication of sterilizer action by the quartz mirror) are taken over here by the standard
in FZKN lters UV sterilizer cover, which was not needed before.
After connecting the sterilizer to the power supply, phosphorescence shows on lower
fragments of the lter housing through the transparent container wall (g.), signa-
ling operation of the uorescent lamp.
LAUNCH AND USAGE
Following the above preparations, you should rst turn on the pump cooperating with
the sterilizer. If the sterilizer is located outside the aquarium, check tightness of the
connections, and in case of leaks seal up. Only after stabilizing the water ow should
the sterilizer be turned on.
NOTE: do not cover the plug stabilizer.
Operation of the uorescent lamp may be checked only in assembled condition:
phosphorescence reected on internal surfaces of the housing (6) or in case of
installation of the sterilizer in a FZKN lter: the sterilizer cover – is visible at the inlet
and outlet openings – regardless of whether the stub pipes (5) are mounted or not.
This phosphorescence will be visible through the transparent stub pipes also later,
during normal operation of the sterilizer. [The manner or verication in FZKN lters
is shown in gure ].
NOTE: In a FZKN lter it is not allowed to use the UV sterilizer without the cover!
UV-C radiation!
The operation cycle of the sterilizer should be determined experimentally, initially
operating it for several hours a week. After the lapse of the planned period of opera-
tion, turn off the UV sterilizer by pulling the plug from the power supply socket.
MAINTENANCE AND REPLACEMENT
OF FLUORESCENT LAMP
For efcient operation of the sterilizer, it should be cleaned every several weeks (e.g.
When doing maintenance on the lter or aquarium pump) performing the following
actions:
1. disconnect the device and the pump cooperating with it from the power supply by
pulling the plugs from the sockets,
2. disconnect the device from the waster circulation and remove any water rema-
ining in it,
3. remove the tting with the uorescent lamp by turning the tting grip (10) accor-
ding to the „OUT” arrow (g.),
4. carefully remove the quartz cover (7), turning it according to the „OUT” arrow
(g.), (in case of installation of the sterilizer in a FZKN lter – g.) and rinse it
under running water and carefully wipe dry – particularly its internal side,
5. screw out the stub pipes (5) and stopper (3), remove the gaskets (4) from them,
and carefully clean under running water,
6. clean the housing (or sterilizer cover in a FZKN lter),
ENGLISH
NOTE: inside the cover (6) and in a fragment of the UV sterilizer cover in a FZKN
lter there is a quartz glass mirror in the shape of a sleeve, with which particular
care should be exercised when cleaning the housing (cover). Do not scratch, and
use only a brush for cleaning bottles in order not to damage the mirror! In case the
mirror breaks, replace the entire housing (cover).
7. assemble the device in reverse order, all gaskets must be properly placed in their
groove and greased with Vaseline, and the uorescent lamp must be inserted all
the way into the tting until refusal.
When the UV-C uorescent lamp does not work, replace it as follows:
1. disconnect the device by pulling the plug from the power supply socket
2. disconnect the device from the water circulation, remove any remaining water
inside and wipe dry
3. turn the tting grip (10) clockwise, according to the „OUT” arrow (g.),
4. remove the tting,
5. remove the uorescent lamp from the tting and press a new one in until locked,
NOTE: Do not touch the glass of the uorescent lamp; remove possible marks
with a dry cloth
6. place the tting (10) along with the mounted uorescent lamp (8) in the housing
(otherwise the uorescent lamp will not work).
Replacement of UV-C uorescent lamp of the sterilizer in a FZKN lter:
1. disconnect the sterilizer and lter from power supply by pulling the plugs from the
sockets,
2. drain water from the lter (following the operating instructions of the FZKN lter),
3. remove the quartz cover (7) along with the tting (10) and uorescent lamp (8), by
turning it according to the „OUT” arrow (g.),
4. wipe the quartz cover (7) dry and remove the tting (10) along with the uorescent
lamp (8) from it,
5. remove the uorescent lamp from the tting and press a new one in until locked
NOTE: Do not touch the glass of the uorescent lamp; remove possible marks
with a dry cloth
6. assemble the device in reverse order.
