To place the detector on the dashboard, find a location where the unit has a clear level view of the road.
Clean the dashboard and the lower part of the detector with damp fabric. ................................................... 1
Remove paper backing from one side of the Velcro fastener. 1
Attach the pad to the dashboard at your chosen location and remove the other paper backing. ................. 1
Attach the detector to the Velco fastener. 1
POWER CONNECTION 1
Your detector is designed to operate on most 12V DC negative ground vehicle electrical system. The
power cord provided with the unit has a cigarette lighter socket plug at one end and a small connector on
the other. 1
Insert the small connector into the jack on the right side of the unit. 1
Insert the other end into the cigarette lighter socket of your vehicle. 1
FUSE REPLACEMENT 1
If the detector does not operate when you turn it on, remove the power adapter from the cigarette lighter
or accessory outlet and carefully check the socket for debris. Also, check the fuse in the adapter and your
vehicles’ fuse box. 1
a)To replace the fuse, unscrew the top of the power adapter. 1
b)Remove and check the fuse to see if it has blown and then replace it. ..................................................... 1
OPERATION OF LASER/RADAR DETECTOR 1
A. POWER AND SELF-TEST 1
1. Rotate ON/OFF Volume Control Dial clockwise. 1
2. Each time you turn your Star 2065 an automatic self-test sequence confirms that the speaker and
visual display are operational. 1
B. SETINGS/READING THE INDICATORS 1

The buttons can have multiple functions. 1
A different Tone Alert will be heard for a confirmation upon each change of settings. .................................. 1
All settings are stored in memory from previously set modes after it is powered-off. ................................... 1
MODES 1
Tutorial 1
Your detector has a tutorial mode that demonstrates all of its alert indicators. In tutorial mode, you can
check the status of all indicators. Each time you press DIM button, you can see each demonstration.
Press CITY and DIM button simultaneously and turn on to start tutorial mode. Press CITY button to finish
any time. 1
Dim 1
You can select from three levels of brightness for your radar detector: bright, dim, and dark. Once you set
the display brightness, the detector retains the settings until you change it. ............................................... 1
Safety Alert 1
Alerts you with following warning: Emergency Vehicle approaching, Road Hazard, Moving Train. .............. 1
City 1
Your detector has two operating modes; City and Highway. In City mode, the detector requires a stronger
X, K, Ka band signal before it sounds or displays an alert. 1
City mode prevents false alerts in densely populated areas where radar signals can bounce off
surrounding structures. 1
X-Delete 1
You can select X-delete Mode. It will reduce false alarms. To delete X-band, Press CITY button until the 4
Beeps sound. Repeat the procedure to activate X-band detection. 1
4 Mute Selection 1
Each time you press Mute button, you can choose one of the following modes: ......................................... 1
1. 90sec Mute-On Mode (Voice Msg. of “Mute On”. 1
Silences the alert tone and voice for 90-sec. If any radar signal is not detected within 90 seconds, reset to
auto-mute. 1
2. Permanent Mute-On Mode (2 Beeps and Voice msg.) 1
Silences the alert tone and voice. 1
3. Mute-Off Mode (Voice Msg. of “Mute Off”). 1
Release Mute-status. 1
