Homa GPE 105 [11/20] Installation

7. Installation
A permanent installation of the pump is only allowed
in under cover rooms which are vetilated. The max. room
temperature is 40°C.
To prevent the pump or pump control from being
damaged by contamination we generally recommend that
a pre-filter be fitted.
Before a start-up of the pump the suction pipe and the
discharge pipe must be installed.
The suction pipe
transports the clear water from the well
to the pump. As a suction pipe you can use the HOMA
suction kit (available in the length 4 m or 7 m) with rein-
forced hose, 22 mm Ø, foot valve and pump connector.
For other length or other diameters see HOMA acces-
sory-program.
The suction pipe normally consists of the following parts:
- Hose spigot or half suction
coupling and fixed coupling
- Hose bands
- Reinforced hose
¾" bis 1¼"
- Hose bands
- Hose spigot
By using a fixed coupling at the suction side of the pump
you must use a readjustable half suction coupling (never
use a second fixed coupling) to guarantee an absolute
tightness of the suction pipe. Furthermore each thread
must be isolated by teflon. A suction pipe which is not air-
tight suck in air and obstruct suction of water.
Instead of using a hose you can install a threaded pipe.
Please pay attention to the above mentoined rules. In any
case a foot valve with strainer must be installed at the
ende of the suction pipe. If not the suction pipe will run
out of water during non-operation of the pump. When you
restart the pump the suction pipe must be filled before
pumping water.
By using the pump with pre-compression for boosting a
check valve must be installed in the suction pipe.
Length of the suction pipe
: The length of the suction pipe
consits of a vertical and a horizontal part. The vertical part
between pump and water surface is calles suction height.
The max. suction height is 8 m. The suction height might
be reduced when there is a large distance between water
intake and pump. A reason for that is the horizontal suc-
tion pipe length which caused friction loss.
Please choose the lentgh of the suction pipe in that way
that the end of the suction pipe is 30 cm below the water
surface in the well.
Installation of the suction pipe
: Connect the suction pipe
at the pump inlet (Pos. A). To reduce the first priming
process of the self-priming
pump we recommened to fill
up the suction pipe with clear
water before you install the
suction pipe. In any case you
must completly fill up the
pump housing through the
discharge connection (Pos.
B) or the fill-up opening (Pos.
C).
Viewed from the pump suc-
tion side, the pipe must be
layed constantly drooped
without any loops.
The discharge pipe
transports the water from the pump to
the tap or sprinkler. Under normal operation conditions a
hose diameter of ½“ at the discharge side is enough. To
increase the pressure and the water output at the end of
the discharge pipe please choose a larger diameter of the
discharge pipe, max. 1¼“.
Seal up the male threads with teflon (fixed-coupling, hose
spigot, pipe) and connect the pipe to the discharge (Pos.
B).
Check the water level in the pump housing again and fill
up the pump housing through the fill-up opening (Pos. C)
if necessary. The pump is operative.
7.2. Booster units HCE 60, HCE 63, HCE 71 and
HCE 105
The electronic pump control HPS 1 is mounted on the
discharge of the pump. The HPS 1 operates the pump
depending on water pressure and flow. The included dry
run protection stops the pump at lack of water to prevent
damages caused by overheating.
If the distance between HPS 1 and the tap or the sprinkler
is more than 15 m the discharge piipe must be mounted
absolutly tight. A leakage affect the function of the HPS 1.
7.3. Automatic Pump Control HPS 1 / HPS 2
By installation of the automatic pump control HPS 2 on
the discharge of the universal pumps GPE 60,
GPE 71 and GPE 105, the pumps are able to operate
as a fully automatic pressure booster unit. Please pay at-
tention to the manual instruction of the pump control.
The manual instrucion is enclosed in the packace of the
HPS 1. The HPS 1 must be installed in vertical
position.
The display of the HPS 1 offers the following functions:
The green LED (Power On) illuminates when the unit is
ready for use. If the mains power supply is interrupted the
green LED will be extinguish.
The yellow LED (Pump On) illuminates, when the pump
is running.
