5.2 Electrical connection
Electrical connection should be made by
a qualified electrician. Current national
regulations must be observed (e.g. VDE
regulations in Germany).
– According to Part 1 of the VDE 0730, the pump
must be connected to the electrical supply by a
solid wire (min. 3x 1.5 mm
2
) equipped with a plug
or an all-pole switch. The width of the contact gap
must be at least 3 mm. The cable must be fed
through the gland PG 13,5 (Fig. 2, pos. ).
– In order to guarantee the strain relief of the gland
and to protect it from dripping water, cables with an
outer diameter of 8 –12 mm (for example: H 05 V V-
F 3 G 1,5) must be used and these must be
tightened sufficiently. In addition, cables positioned
near the gland must be formed into a sort of
discharge hose in order to carry drops of water
away from the gland. Glands which are not con-
nected must be closed using the sealing discs
supplied and these must be tightened sufficiently.
– The seals which are intended to make the supply
cable fit the inner diameter of the gland are made of
concentric rubber rings, the inner rings of which can
be removed where necessary.
When using the pump in machinery where the water
temperature exceeds 90°C, a connecting pipe with
corresponding heat resistance must be used.
The supply cable must be laid in such a way that it
never touches the pipework and/or the pump and
motor casing.
The relevant VDE regulations must be observed
when using an FI safety switch. Pumps with P
1
500 W must be used in conjunction with DC
sensitive safety switches.
In order to guarantee electromagnetic compatibility
the supply cable must not be laid closer than 10 cm
to the module.
Check that the mains current and voltage comply
with the data on the rating plate.
Mains voltage: 1 ~ 230 V
AC, 50 Hz, IEC 38.
Mains fuse: see rating plate,
The mains connection is made via the binding posts
L, N, PE (Fig. 2),
The integrated potential-free multiple error reading
comes from the binding posts SSM (Fig. 2, opener).
Permissible contact load:
minimum: 12 V DC, 10 mA,
maximum: 250 V AC, 1 A.
The Tele-Monitor is connected to the multiple plug
in the terminal box.
PLR: Binding posts for the PLR (pump control
processor) or interface converter; connection is
locked into position.
DP: Binding posts four double pumps; for double
pump mode, there must be a connection with the
respective binding posts of the second pump.
The connection is locked into position. The
supply cable, 2 x 0.75 … 1.5 mm
2
, can be 2 m
long max.
The cables must be fed through the glands PG 11
(Fig. 2, pos. ) and PG 7 (Fig. 2, pos. ).
– Pump/installation must be earthed in compliance
with regulations.
Prior to commencing work on the pump
the distribution voltage must be switched
off. Due to the danger of electric shocks,
work on the module may only be con-
tinued five minutes after the distribution
voltage has been cut off.
Check that all connections (potential-free
contacts too) are neutral.
6. Operation
The pump and module have to have the same tem-
perature as their surroundings before a complete
message appears on the display.
6.1 Filling and ventilating the unit
The unit must be filled and ventilated properly. The
pump rotary box is ventilated automatically shortly
after the unit has been started up. Short-term dry-
running does not damage the pump. Pumps with vent
screws can be ventilated as necessary in the following
way:
Switch off pump,
Close the pipe on the pressure side,
Remove the cap cover on the front of the motor,
Open the vent screw carefully with Allen key SW 5,
Push the pump shaft back carefully several times.
Depending on the fluid temperature and
the system pressure, if the vent screw is
completely loosened hot liquid or gas
can escape or even shoot out at high
pressure. Beware of scalding.
Protect all electrical parts against the water released
from the unit,
