[Example]: Starting a normal scan.
■ Setting TAG channels
For more efficient scanning, add the desired channels as TAG
channels or clear the TAG for unwanted channels.
Channels that are not tagged will be skipped during scanning.
TAG channels can be assigned to each channel group
(U.S.A., International and Canada) independently.
q While pushing and holding [H/L], push [CH/WX] several
times to select the desired channel group.
w Select the desired channel to be set as a TAG channel.
e Push [F], then push [5• ] to set the displayed channel
as a TAG channel.

TTAAGG
” appears in the display.
r To cancel the TAG channel setting, repeat step e.
•“
TTAAGG
” disappears.
Clearing (or setting) all tagged channels
While pushing and holding [H/L], push [5• ] for 3 sec.
(until a long beep changes to 2 short beeps) to clear all TAG
channels setting in the selected channel group.
• Repeat above procedure to set all channels as TAG channels.
■ Starting a scan
Set scan type (Priority or Normal scan) and scan resume
timer in advance using Set mode. (p. 43)
q While pushing and holding [H/L], push [CH/WX] several
times to select the channel group, if desired.
w Set TAG channels as described at left.
e Make sure the squelch is closed to start a scan.
r Push [F], then push [4• ] to start Priority or Normal
scan.

• When a signal is detected, scan pauses until the signal disap-
pears or resumes after pausing 5 sec. according to Set mode
setting. (Channel 16 is still monitored during Priority scan.)

ZZ
] on the microphone to
check the scanning TAG channels, to change the scanning di-
rection or resume the scan manually.
• A beep tones sounds and “

” blinks when a signal is received
on Channel 16 during Priority scan.
t To stop the scan, push [CLR] or repeat step r.
