4 FUNCTION OPERATIONS Split frequency operation Split frequency operation allows you to transmit and receive in the same mode on two different frequen cies The split frequency operation is basically performed using 2 frequencies on the MAIN and SUB readouts Following is an example of setting 21 290 MHz for receiving and 21 310 MHz for transmitting Set 21 290 MHz USB in the VFO mode Rotate the main dial while pushing XFC or sub dial to set the transmit frequency to 21 310 MHz The transmit frequency can be monitored while pushing XFC or using dualwatch Transmit frequency USB i Zion nn L I L IU UU SPLIT 1 in nn k Pi 3 IU UU VFO wo CH Now you can receive on 21 290 MHz and transmit on 21 310 MHz USB VFO To change the transmit and receive frequencies push CHANGE to exchange the MAIN and SUB readouts fCH Push SPLIT then push EQUAL for 2 sec The quick split function is much more convenient for selecting the transmit frequency See the next section for details Equalized transmit frequency and I SPLIT appear on the SUB readout The SUB readout flashes 4 times to show the transmit frequency s readout when the split fre quency function is ON ___ PUT appears SPLIT USB non nn L I C ILI LI LI VFO VF0 CH CONVENIENT DUALWATCH FUNCTION The dualwatch function is convenient for tuning the transmit frequency while monitoring both frequen cies used for transmitting and receiving CONVENIENT MAIN DIAL LOCK FUNCTION The main dial lock function and sub dial tuning are convenient for changing only the transmit frequency Quick split function When you find a DX station an important consid eration is how to set the split frequency If you can anticipate the necessary shift frequency it can be pre programmed into the quick split function When you push the SPLIT switch for 2 sec split frequency operation is turned ON and the SUB readout appears with the plus minus pre programmed shift frequency from the MAIN readout or equalized when 0 kHz split shift frequency is programmed zion nn L LL JU LIU Push and hold SPLIT This shortens the time needed to start split fre quency operation The quick split function is ON by default For your convenience it can be turned OFF in H set mode p 46 In this case the SPLIT switch does not equalize the MAIN and SUB readout frequencies PROGRAMMING SPLIT SHIFT FREQUENCY Push MAIN F INP Enter the desired shift frequency with the digit key s 1 kHz to 1 MHz can be programmed When you require a minus shift direction push in advance Push SPLIT I ZlLin nn c I CJU UU EXAMPLE To program 1 kHz shift frequency When no shift frequency is programmed I ZIÜFI HF C I CJU UU SPLIT When 10 kHz is programmed as a shift frequency 33 To program 3 kHz shift frequency MAIN F INP __ 1 j SPLIT _____ MAIN F INP cz __ üT ____ SPLIT MAIN F INP____ To clear the shift frequency ___ 0 SPLIT ___
