BASIC OPERATION 2 Receiving and transmitting Transmitting notes Caution Transmitting without an antenna may damage the transceiver See p 2 for antenna attachment LOW BATTERY CONDITION Receiving Select a channel See Channel selection on previous page Listen for a transmission and adjust the volume to a com fortable listening level The activity LED lights green when receiving a signal When no transmission is heard push and hold P MON to ad just the volume The transceiver is now set to receive calls on the selected channel Transmitting Wait for the channel to become clear then Push a programmed switch e g to transmit a tone etc if instructed to do so by your system operator Refer to DEALER PROGRAMMABLE FUNCTIONS on pgs 6 10 While pushing and holding PTT speak into the micro phone at a normal voice level The activity LED lights red while transmitting Do not hold the transceiver too close to your mouth or speak too loudly This may distort the signal When the low battery indi IC F30LT F40LT IC F30 F40 XIZ cator appears and or the activity LED flashes red IX slowly battery capacity is battery low battery low becoming low and trans XIZ mitting is not possible When the low battery indi A X zIX battery nearly battery nearly cator appears and flashes exhausted exhausted and or the activity LED flashes red quickly battery capacity is nearly exhausted O TRANSMITTING WHILE SCANNING If the scan function is assigned to channel 1 and scan is acti vated you can transmit on a pre programmed channel during the scan depending on programming transmit may be inhibited O TIME OUT TIMER TOT After continuous transmission for a pre programmed period the TOT activates and receive is automatically selected Holding PTT Transmitting Release PTT to receive specified TOT period
