Digital audio source requirements:

Standard: AES/EBU (AES3) or coaxial S/PDIF (IEC 60958 Type II).
•
Sampling frequency: 44.1, 48, 64, 88.2, 96, 128, 176.4, or 192 kHz.
•
Word length: 16, 18, 20, or 24 bits.
Cables: Check the digital XLR wiring on both sides.
Digital signal possible failures: no clock, loss of lock, invalid audio [validity
bit], CRC error, bipolar encoding error, data slip.
