4 2 Operating the hot plates If your hob has Over heat protection Hotplates that have power bigger than 1000 W have heat protector inside Corresponding Cooking Values Hotplate control positio Application i1 Warming 2I3 4I5 6 Simmering Cooking Frying Boiling The thermal protector reduces the power if excessive heat is detected during abnormal operating conditions A rapid heating hotplate is denoted by a red spot in the centre of the hotplate Hotplate operating knobs The knobs for the hob can be rotated in either direction to provide fully variable heat control When any one of the hotplates is on Diameter of pot bottom 145 mm 180 mm Max concavity in cold condition 0 9 mm 1 1 mm the red indicator light on the control panel will be on In order to switch the hotplate OFF turn the corresponding knob to the 0 zero position Knobs of the hotplates can be turned both clockwise and counter clockwise directions Check that all the cooker controls have been switched off after use Max concavity in hot condition 0 5 mm 0 6 mm Adjust the hotplates to mid position 3 and leave on for approximately 8 minutes in order to burn off the protective coating on the hotplates Do not place any pans or other cooking utensil on the hotplates during this process Fumes will be emitted during the above operation but this is quite normal Abnormal operating conditions are When there is not any pot or saucepan on hotplate When all the water in pan or saucepan has evaporated When there is excess boiling If bottom of pot is not smooth flat i e if it is concave or convex If one cooks meal with cold water abnormal condition will end In this case hotplate will run in full power 8
