Homa HWE 71 [12/20] Maintenance and repair

9. Maintenance and Repair
Before maintenance or repair disconnect the pump from
the power supply to avoid accidental starting of the pump!
In case of a defect of the pump, a repair shall be carried
out only by the manufacturer or through an authorized
workshop. Modifications of the pump must be confirmed by
the manufacturer. Only HOMA spare parts shall be used.
In accordance with the product liability law we point out
that we shall not be liable for damages caused by our prod-
uct due to unauthorized repair by persons other than the
manufacturer or an authorized workshop or due to the use
of spare parts other than original HOMA parts. The same
product liability limitations are valid for accessories.
O-rings: Never use damaged o-rings again, replace
defective O-rings
The pressure tank (pos. E) contains a flexible diaphragm
(pos. F). The diaphragm is impacted by an air bearing of
1,5 bar. If the Domestic booster unit activates the pump
already for withdrawals of small amounts of water, the air
pressure may have decreased. In this case, but latest every
six months the air pressure has to be checked.
9.1 Check the pressure by the following steps:
- Disconnect the pump from the power supply
- Empty the pressure tank (open tap, let it open)
- Remove valve cover (pos. G) from the pressure tank and
check the pressure with a manometer. Use an air-pump
with the air-valve (pos. H) to restore the needed air-
pressure of 1,5 bar.
Fig.9.3.1
Pumps running under normal operation conditions should
be inspected at least once a year.
For long and trouble-free operation of the pump, following
points should be checked regularly:
- Seals: Check for possible wear. Replace defective seals.
- Pump parts: Check for possible wear. Replace defective
parts.
9.2 Adjustment of the pressure-switch
The pressure-switch has a standard adjustment for start-up
pressure (1,5 bar) and switch-off pressure (3,0 bar), which
do not have to be changed for normal use of the Domestic
booster unit. In case of using a garden irrigation unit in
combination with the Domestic booster unit it may happen
that the counterpressure in the system may switch-off the
pump by reaching the switch-off level of the pressure-
switch, even if the pressure pipe is not closed.
To avoid uncontrolled switch-ons and offs the switch-off
level can be increased manually. In this case, and in all
other cases where a changing of the standard settings at
the pressure-switch is needed, proceed as follows:
9.3 Change the settings by the following steps:
- Disconnect the pump from the power supply
- Remove pressure-switch covering, here you can find a big
and a small tension sping (see fig 9.3.2).
- By tightening the small spring screw you can increase the
switch-off pressure, by unfastening this screw you lower the
switch-off pressure.
- By accordingly moving the screw on the big spring the
start-up and switch-off pressure are changed simultane-
ously.
- After changing the settings check the new switch pressure
by doing a test run.
Fig.9.3.2
To avoid overheating and destruction of the pump,
never set the switch-off pressure up to a mark where the
pump is not able to reach it anymore. The pump continue to
operate without lifting water, even when the pressure-pipe
(tap) is closed, which would cause overheating and damage
of the pump.
9.4 Standard start-up and switch-off pressure
for pump type:
On Off
HWE 55 1,5 bar 3,0 bar
HWE 71 1,5 bar 3,5 bar
HWE 70-60 1,5 bar 3,5 bar
HWE 76 E 1,5 bar 3,5 bar
