15 TROUBLESHOOTING
WARNING
• Always stop the machine and disconnect the spark plug before performing all
the corrective tests recommended in the table below, except in cases where
machine operation is explicitly requested.
• When all possible causes have been checked and the problem is not resolved,
consult an Authorized Service Center. If a problem occurs that is not listed in this
table, consult an Authorized Service Center.
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSES SOLUTION
The engine does not start or
turns off only a few seconds
after starting.
There is no spark. Check the spark of the spark
plug. If there is no spark, repeat
the test with a new spark plug (
TORCH L8RTF).
Engine flooded. Follow procedure 8.5 flooded
engine. If the engine still does
not start, replace the spark plug
and repeat procedures 9.1 Safety
checks with a new spark plug
The engine starts, but does not
accelerate properly or does not
run properly at high speed.
The carburetor needs to be
adjusted.
Contact an Authorized Service
Center to adjust the carburetor.
The engine does not reach full
speed and/or emits excessive
smoke.
Check the oil/fuel mixture. Use fresh gasoline and a suitable
2-stroke engine oil (see chapter
8.1 Fuel).
Dirty air filter. Clean: see instructions in chapter
10.3 Air filter.
The carburetor needs to be
adjusted.
Contact an Authorized Service
Center to adjust the carburetor.
The engine starts, runs, and
accelerates but will not idle.
The carburetor needs to be
adjusted.
Adjust the idle screw (T, Fig. 20)
clockwise to increase the speed
(see chapter 10.9 Carburetor).
The engine starts and runs, but
the cutting tool does not rotate.
Damaged clutch, bevel gear or
drive shaft.
Replace if necessary: contact an
Authorized Service Center.
WARNING
Do not attempt to carry out repairs without the necessary means and technical
expertise. Any work carried out, will automatically void the Warranty and the
Manufacturer’s liability. Should the problems persist after applying the proposed
solutions, contact an authorized service center.
