The heating cable shall not cross a construction joint or be laid in an area where there is
a danger of the slab cracking or overheating. The distance between the heating mat and
other heat sources such as sauna stoves or chimneys shall be at least 0.5 m.
The thickness of the fl ooring material covering the cable must be at least 5 mm.
Heating mat shall not be installed under fi xed furniture like closets.
Never nail or drill a fl oor in which a heating mat has been installed.
ThinMat heating element shall be controlled by a fl oor thermostat with a maximum
temperature limit of + 35 °C.
ThinMat is to be supplied through a residual current device having a rated residual oper-
ating current not exceeding 30 mA.
An all-pole separating device of over voltage category III must be incorporated in the
xed wiring of ThinMat for disconnection from the supply mains.
The installation of ThinMat is not recommended at a temperature of less than + 5 ºC.
In a fl oor in which a ThinMat heating mat has been installed the heating resistance
should not exceed 0,125 m² K/W. The fl oor to be heated should not be covered with a
thick or otherwise well insulating carpet.
The suitability of the fl ooring material for under fl oor heating should be checked with
the manufacturer.
The measurement table given in this instruction should be properly fi lled. This instruc-
tion should be preserved and made available during installation and also during mainte-
nance work after installation.
Ensto’s responsibility in the case of faults applies only when the measurement docu-
ment has been properly fi lled in.
Package includes:
• Heating mat
Floor heating thermostat (only products marked with +T)
Flexible plastic tube
• Tape
• Installation instruction
INSTALLATION
The fl oor surface shall be carefully cleaned before installing the heating mat. The fl oor shall
be free of stones or other sharp objects that can damage the cable. Uneven fl oor surfaces
should be leveled before installation of the heating mat. The primer shall be spread on the
oor to ensure a proper adhesion of the heating mat and the new layer of concrete.
Carry out installation according to the drawings:
1. Plan and draw the size and location of the ThinMat. Carefully mark the positions of the
cold cable connection, the free end of the cable and the fl oor sensor of the thermostat. Keep
this drawing together with other documents of the electrical installations.
2. Drill an approximately 10 mm deep groove for the thermostat sensor tube. It is recom-
mended that the top surface of the plastic tube should be installed lower than the top sur-
face of the heating mat cable. The curve in the tubing must be gentle enough to permit the
sensor to be replaced later, if necessary (see also fi gure 4).
