Cleaning and maintenance overview
Prior to each use
As required, or every 50 operating hours
Cleaning the unit
Careful handling and regular cleaning ensure that the
device stays fully functional and efficient over a long
period of time.
Remove dirt with a brush.
Wipe the tool with a damp cloth.
Keep ventilation slots clean and free of dust.
Maintaining the unit

Switch off the motor
Remove the air filter housing (12)
Remove the foam filter (A)
Clean the foam filter (in water with washing up
liquid) and allow to dry or
replace the foam filter.
Mount the air filter housing (12)
Check the motor oil level
Undo and remove the motor oil filling screw (17).
Read the oil level off on the scale.
If necessary, add motor oil and repeat the pro-
cess.

Remove the spark plug connector (16).
Unscrew the spark plug (A).
Check the electrode for discolouration (standard
colour: light brown).
Check the gap between the electrodes (standard
gap: 0.7 mm to 0.8 mm).
Clean the spark plug
Remove sooty deposits from the electrode with
a wire brush.
Replace the spark plug
Insert cleaned or new spark plug and tighten by
hand.
Now tighten the hand-screwed spark plug using
a spark plug wrench and turning it a quarter turn.
Do not tighten the spark plug too much as other-
wise the thread will be damaged.
Fit the spark plug connector (16) back on the
plug firmly.
DANGER! Risk to life! Carry out only the
maintenance work described here in per-
son. All other work, in particular motor
maintenance and repair, must be carried
out by a trained specialist. Improper main-
tenance work can damage the device and
lead to injuries.

nections and tighten if
necessary.
Clean the ventilation
slots of the motor to
remove grass and
moss.
Use a brush to remove.
Check the starter cord
for damage to the cord.

Clean/replace spark
plug

DANGER! Risk of electric shock! Never
spray the device with water or expose to
water. Never use cleaning fluids or sol-
vents for cleaning. This may irreversibly
damage the device. The plastic parts may
be attacked by the chemicals.
DANGER! Risk to life! Before conducting
any maintenance, make sure the device is
unplugged (disconnect the power supply).
CAREFUL! Machine damage! To clean
the spark plug only use wire brushes with
brass bristles. Bristles made from any
other material will damage the electrode!
CAREFUL! Machine damage! Only
screw the spark plug into place when the
motor is cold.
