2.6 Network Applications

2.6.1 Overview of Network Application Operation

z The Net File application operates on a network connect PC operating SmartNet Monitor.

z Thumbnail images are created from image data stored for each application, and by referencing these collected

thumbnail images from SmartNet Monitor, these thumbnails can be presented. Further, on SmartNet Monitor the

properties of stored image file names and other properties can be changed with user settings.

z The stored image data for each application is referenced from SmartNet Monitor and presented for each

application. Stored image data from copy, fax, and print applications can be printed from SmartNet Monitor with

user settings. Image data stored with a fax application can be sent as a fax transmission from SmartNet Monitor

with user settings.

z Based on user information registered with SmartNet Monitor, and according to settings on the machine, the user

access settings for printing stored documents and sending transmission can be performed from SmartNet

Monitor.All password settings for each application on stored image data remain in effect in SmartNet Monitor.

2.6.2 Network Data Flow

Thumbnail creation data flow

The image data file stored on the HDD is read through the MCS into memory, and the thumbnail image is processed in

memory. The created thumbnail maintained and managed on the hard disk in JPEG (JFIF) format.

Thumbnail reference data flow

The SmartNet Monitor reference operation locates the thumbnail, the processed and stored thumbnail is read from the

HDD into memory, and is then output through the NCS to the PC.

Stored image file output data flow

The SmartNet Monitor reference operation locates the stored image file, the image file stored on the HDD is read

through the MCS into memory, and is then sent through the NCS to the PC.
