togetaccesstotheThinkPadSetupprogram.
2.SelectUserHDPandthendoeitherofthefollowing:
•Tochangetheharddiskpassword,typethecurrentpasswordintheEnterCurrentPasswordeld.
ThentypethenewpasswordintheEnterNewPasswordeld,andretypethepasswordyoujust
enteredtoverifyitintheConrmNewPasswordeld.PressEnter,andaSetupNoticewindowis
displayed.PressEntertoexitfromtheSetupNoticewindow.Theuserharddiskpasswordwillbe
changed.
•Toremovetheharddiskpassword,typethecurrentpasswordintheEnterCurrentPasswordeld.
ThenleavetheEnterNewPasswordandConrmNewPasswordeldsblank,andpressEnter.
ASetupNoticewindowisdisplayed.PressEntertoexitfromtheSetupNoticewindow.Theuser
harddiskpasswordwillberemoved.

•Toremovetheuserharddiskpassword,typethecurrentmasterharddiskpasswordintheEnter

blank,andpressEnter.ASetupNoticewindowisdisplayed.PressEntertoexitfromtheSetup

Supervisorpassword
ThesupervisorpasswordprotectsthesysteminformationstoredintheThinkPadSetup.Withoutit,noone
canchangethecongurationofthecomputer.Itprovidesthefollowingsecurityfeatures:
•Ifasupervisorpasswordisset,apasswordpromptappearswhenyoutrytostarttheThinkPadSetup.
Unauthorizeduserscannotgetaccesstocongurationdata.
•Thesystemadministratorcanusethesupervisorpasswordtogetaccesstoacomputereveniftheuserof
thatcomputerhassetapower-onpassword.Thesupervisorpasswordoverridesthepower-onpassword.
