13.16.2 IPv6 Prefix List
Click Statistics > IPv6 > Prefix in the navigation panel to open this screen. Use this screen to
view the list of on-link prefixes. The prefixes are used to determine whether an IP address is on the
same link as the MSC or should be reached through a router.

The following table describes the labels in this screen.

LABEL DESCRIPTION
In-band/Out-of-
band
This is the MSC’s interface to which the prefix is assigned or through which a neighbor can
be reached.
Index This is the index number of the entry.
Prefix This is the subnet prefix and prefix length.
vltime This displays the valid lifetime. It specifies how long (in seconds) a prefix is valid for on-link
determination. It displays infinity when the time never expires.
pltime This displays the preferred life time. It specifies how long (in seconds) that addresses
generated from the prefix via stateless address autoconfiguration remain preferred. It
displays infinity when the time never expires.
The preferred lifetime must be shorter than the valid lifetime.
onlink This displays whether the system can use this prefix for on-link determination (TRUE) or
not (FALSE).
A prefix is considered to be on-link when it is assigned to an interface on a link. It’s used to
determine if an address is on the MSC’s subnet and can be reached directly without passing
through a router. An on-link interface is directly connected to the MSC or connected through
another switch.
If the MSC sends a packet to a host and the destination IP address is off-link, the packet will
be sent to a next-hop (a router in the router list) for this destination. If the destination host
is on-link, it is also the next hop.
autonomous This displays whether the prefix can be used for stateless address auto configuration
(TRUE) or not (FALSE).
Expire This displays how long (hhhmmmsss) will it be before the valid lifetime (vltime) expires.
When an address is manually configured, it displays Never (never expires).
